• Cardiovascular Endurance -Many terms are broadly synonymous with cardiovascular endurance, including aerobic fitness, aerobic capacity, and endurance. For my purpose, I emphasize the ability of the heart to deliver oxygen to the working muscles and their ability to use that oxygen. Many people think that physical activity and exercise are synonymous, but although exercise is a type of physical activity, not all physical activities are exercise (Whaley and Kaminski 2001). For example, working in your yard is a physical activity and does have some health benefits, but it is not exercise. The best aerobic exercises are activities that raise your heart rate to a training level, last more than about five minutes, are repetitive in nature, and use a large muscle mass

Exercise can have a surprising number of benefits: it can improve your cardiovascular fitness and muscular endurance, which translates into an increase in energy; it can dramatically reduce the risk of coronary artery disease; it may also help lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels, and aid in weight control; and it appears to give self-esteem a measurable boost, and in general to improve your sense of well-being.
You can derive these benefits at any age, and indeed, exercise - or at least staying physically active - appears to be increasingly important the older we get. Many of the problems commonly associated with aging - increased body fat, decreased muscular strength and flexibility, loss of bone mass, lower metabolism, and slower reaction times - are often signs of inactivity that can be minimized or even prevented by exercise.

Activities to build up Cardiovascular Endurance are walking running, jumping, swimming and skipping.

Cardiovascular endurance is the most important aspect of fitness. It is basically how strong your heart is, which can potentially add years to your life. The heart is the most important muscle in the human body and if it is kept healthy then you can avoid numerous health problems. Another reason that cardiovascular endurance is important is because your heart controls the oxygen flow to all your muscles - meaning cardiovascular health has a direct impact on your performance, both endurance and strength wise.

The reason your cardio performance can be improved is because the heart is a muscle, and like all other muscles in the body if you keep working it will adapt to the workload given. This allows us to have direct control of how healthy one of the most important systems in our body is. But keep in mind there are other factors that effect heart health, such as cholesterol, and blood pressure. Eating right and exercising will ensure that your heart becomes, and remains, healthy throughout your life.
Many people are surprised at how easy it is to improve their cardiovascular endurance.
