• The rain pattered against the hard, gray pavement, making the most wonderful of all sounds that one would be so lucky to hear. Like music, sweet and soft, but still loud enough for me to hear. It traveled straight to my ears, though they were covered by the rubber from my raincoat's hood. Soothing my miffed mood, that it did. And mixed with the melody of my thumping shoes, it made it all the more better.
"Plip, plop, plip, plop," said the tears.
"Thump, thump, thump, thump," replied my heavy shoes. I brought my fingertips to the edges of my green hood, then gently pulled the rubber off of my head, exposing my dark, black hair to the liquid that dripped from the heavens above.

As the rain got heavier, my pace slowed 'till I stopped, and I remained standing straight amongst falling water. Not many people thought of it like I did, not many people imagined rain to be like I thought it was. I always fantasized about how the raindrops were really tiny water pixies, who lived on the high cumulonimbus clouds. When they lost their wings, they'd fall off the fluffy pillow-like things and splatter on the ground, becoming one of the soft earth. Or maybe like the tears of spirits, pouring and soaking everyone. Maybe they'd witnessed a horrid scene, and couldn't help but cry their worries away. But no, no one ever considered that. Everyone called me stupid and foolish for thinking in such a dream-like way. I know life isn't easy, yet sometimes I wish it was. I always dream of such things, because it is my wish. If I could grab a shooting star, I'd beg it for a better world, a better life. But it's impossible, and nothing but a dream.

With a heavy sigh, and an extended breath, I continued on again. My hands hung to the sides of my body, brushing against my cloth-covered hips. A bit of water splattered my jean-colored pants, but I did not mind. No, not at all. In fact, I liked it that way. Much better, if you ask me. Water never hurt anyone. A rumble, heard from a distance, like a contented purring cat. Thunder, I suppose. And lightning will be quick to come, too. With a couple of blinks of my eyes, I walked faster and faster ahead. This road seemed long and never-ending, like the one from the Wizard of Oz. The only thing was, it wasn't yellow-bricked. I swiveled my head around, searching for a shelter near by. Honestly, to say, I don't think being struck by shattering lights would be very pleasant. Moments of falling rain went by, and I still tried to look for somewhere to be protected.

I vaguely wondered whether or not school had started. For some odd reason, I took a sick day today. There was particular purpose for it, I was simply feeling well. But now, my stomach had stopped hurting, and my head was cleared from all those negatives thoughts that gave me a headache when I woke up, feeling sore from my toes to my nose. I should probably go to school after lunch, but I don't much feel like it. Ah well, it won't matter. I'll just retake that exam tomorrow. Wait, something's wrong...Dear Gods of Mount Olympia, I wandered off without even realizing! I've never even been to this avenue before!
