• It starts out slow and peaceful, seeming infinite. As time goes on and you still see only calm waters in every direction, you begin to believe that it truly will last forever. Your mind is filled with beautiful images of a smooth, serene stream, never-ending in either direction. Occasionally there are rocks, but they are minuscule and are soon gone. Gently, the water begins to quicken, but it is at such a low rate that you do not even notice it. It continues to speed up its pace, and at some point you will recognize the change, but you are unlikely to suspect anything bad. Still, the water continues to race ahead, and at some point it becomes obvious that it will not cease in its vigorous movement ahead. Any smart person would then try to escape the possible hazard or swim back farther away toward calmer waters. But others are not as bright and will trust that the water will not hurt them. They do not speed forward to the danger, but they do not try to avoid it either. They move along with the flow of the river until the big waterfall is right in front of them, and even then they cannot make themselves believe in the danger. As they fall, they begin to realize what is happening and struggle for a breath of air, however they are too late. They have already drowned in the deep, dark, endless pool below, and the water has absolutely no care at all for killing them when they were so clueless about its deathly pool below. Instead it continued to feed off of their trust until they were gone, gone forever.
