• Meat is murder. At least on technical standpoint were kill = murder.
I, as a lot of people nowadays, am a vegetarian (I still eat fish though). My choice was entirely based off of health but people have been spitting around that “eating a living thing is wrong!” That is where I draw the line in this argument.
If that is truly the case than fish, cows, snakes, naked mole rats , humpback whales and herbivorous homo sapiens are hateful, ignorant scum of the planet that have total disregard for their surroundings. In this life-death type of affair people always seem to forget the incredibly well-known fact that, plants are living. If you kill something alive than it is murder. That nice healthy salad you made last night is now a bloodbath of plant species. What did that cute little tomato ever do to you? Nothing but enter the food chain where things eat other things to gain nutrients and energy.
If every single human being becomes a vegetarian the food chain would quite likely shrivel up and die along with any other vegetable that we engulf in our “peaceful” wave of change. The only way for this insanity to end is if we, quite literally, turn into vegetables. Which, if you haven’t noticed, is currently a biological impossibility for, oh’ say, a couple million years. So, what I have dubbed, photosynthism is impossible for the next couple hundred-thousand millennia. What now?
Wait… what about the planet? Well this whole “save the animals” is a load of bovine waste. Hey, look mister, that bear is eating a salmon! It’s destroying the environment. Look at those Cherokee, they’re tanning animal hide and eating flesh. They must be bad people who hate this environment! Have you ever heard anyone say something like that? Yes, those Uggs and Omaha Steaks may cut a little hole in mass production, but still. Bear eats fish and man eats fish, how are these two situations any different? We need to protect this planet, but putting that omnivorous blood in you to waste can’t help at all to save this home of ours.
I am not saying being a vegetarian is bad, but to all of you people out there don’t take this too far, don’t force it on others. We are the ones being unnatural and odd not other people. It is an inevitable fact that we are designed to eat both plants material and animal material, not only one or other. We have a choice of what we eat and we should use it but not make it some evil curse that make us killers!
The one thing I’m worried about is, even if it sounds weird, turning into some odd religion or cult! We have people out on the streets openly protesting this, totally natural, sin that humans have committed. This could easily turn into the new Scientology at this rate! Instead of being a small personal choice you get grouped in with these drugged-up hippies complaining about our race’s mass homicide on nature.
But remember changes are still going on in this world. Whether it’s evolution or chicken overlords, we as a species are still changing like almost every other thing on this rock! Even God will get bored with these "human" things after a while! Just wait a couple million, or maybe a billion years, and see who was right. Granted this solar system still exists, there could have been a horrible pandemic in our livestock that quickly killed off the consumers. Or a new aphid species was introduced from Alpha Centauri in U.S.S Gaia’s famous colonization in 12345 A.D., that laid eggs in our crops and caused the deadly "teraphelis" disease ( also known as "Mega Botulism" ) outbreak in the northern hemisphere, causing a wider death of those who only ate vegetables and other humans. Maybe we just blew up? There is nothing at the moment that states who’s right and wrong, so let’s just leave it to the world to decide and stop bickering about it now! All I can say to that mad inventor out there is find a way to bring “peace” and bring the unlikely but mildly awesome coming of photosynthesists. Besides, wouldn't it still be harming other plants? I mean, euglena still compete for light even if they can eat so... whatever!
Other options? Well, recently they have, in fact been, developing a way to “grow” meat artificially and have apparently dubbed it “shmeat” which is a conjunction of s#%@ and meat. I actually find this option kind of repulsing but PETA has actually taken interest. I really don’t think biologically growing this, um… protein substitute instead of the normal ( by that I mean the “murder” way of things ) process is all that ethical.
Other than that, just enjoy the wonderful glory that is soy and have fun with your life of not killing any of your mammalian kin… or avian… okay, any animal. But what about other animals? Are they allowed to eat us? Yes, they should, even if it is in fact by accident, let’s not start jamming tofu down a great white’s throat, okay? Carnivores have their rights! And so do omnivores like, as I have said many times, us. We are designed to eat both animal and plant material. Organisms that have the choice can choose what they want, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it.
