-
Oh blanket, oh blanket.
I implore you
Slip no further.
And although I know
The tears that
you have weathered,
The horrors that
you have smothered,
The ghosts that
you have blinded,
The hugs within
your fibers
Will always envelop me,
But, my Quilt,
Please don't fall—
It is cold tonight.

- Title: Oh blanket, Oh blanket
- Artist: The One and Only Deli
- Description: I hope you will leave this favorite piece of mine with a warm, comforted feeling, as a blanket always should give. :3 I also hope that this will prove to you that not all poetry requires dark themes.

- Good stuff, I had to giggle a little the first time I read it though, mostly because it reminds me of my blankie I had when I was little...I still keep it tucked away in a safe place.lol

- Originally, I wrote this as a random flex of my poetic muscle as an ode to my quilt; a quilt I've owned since childhood that always seems to keep me the correct temperature, and I sleep better if I have. But, when I completed this poem, I was surprised to find it could be interpreted that the 'blanket' in question could be merely a forward image, and that this poem has deeper meaning.
