    I went to a party
    With a couple of friends
    Not knowing that day
Would be close to the end

    And that party was sure
    To be ‘out of sight’
    I guess that’s the reason
    I snuck out that night

    See that party was only
    For 18 and over
    I was only 14
    Driving illegally a Rover

    Being at that party
    It didn’t make me bubbly
    I needed to get home
    Before Mother caught me

    My two friends were drunk
    They didn’t want to go
    But a stranger came over
And said “I’ll take you home”

    I didn’t have a choice
So I said “Sure, I’ll come with”
And pretty soon we were driving
    On 2nd and 25th

And that’s when I heard it
A ‘wee do wee do wee’
    Come to find out
There was police down the street

    The man I was with
    Started speeding and cursed
I yelled to him “Whoa pull over
    Before an accident occurs!”

    I wish I hadn’t said that
Because, I’d just jinxed us both
    On the next intersection
    The car suffered a blow

    We flipped maybe twice
Round and round went the car
    When we finally stopped
    I was physically scarred

    The car was on fire
I could smell my burning hair
I looked over at my driver
To find that he was already impaired

I could hear the police yelling
“This girl isn’t gonna’ make it”
But I’ve gotta’ be a woman
And learn how to take it

    I’ve gotta’ accept
    That I’m going to die
    Whether it’s today or tomorrow
    I will have no life

    But maybe Heaven
    Won’t be so bad
    ‘Cause now I can go
    See my wonderful dad

    I’ll wait for my mother
    My little sister, too
To come join me and daddy
In a world that is new

    But now my friends,
    I must say goodbye
Because I hear my mother rushing
To come kneel by my side

    My family is crying
    Though there’s nothing to fear
    I wish I could speak
To tell mom “Your little girl’s here”

    These are my last moments
    I’m now going to die
I wish I could tell everyone
    “I love you…goodbye.”
