• The maiden lies still
    Her heart suspended.
    Despite her wishes
    The night hasn’t ended.

    She looks to the stars
    That hang far above
    And whispers her name
    Of her departed true love.

    She reaches out,
    Her pale hand high,
    Fingers stretched,
    A downcast sigh.

    She lowers her eyes
    And lets her tears fall.
    Never again will she hear
    Her mate's loving call.

    Her knight had lost
    And will never be found,
    For now he is hidden
    Far beneath the ground.

    Then…

    Floating before her
    Is but a single feather,
    A note attached
    Reading “Always together.”

    She lifts her eyes
    And stares ahead.
    And there’s her love
    Standing near her bed.

    Her eyes open wide
    At the phantom in sight.
    He wipes away a tear
    And becomes engulfed in light.

    He waves his last goodbye
    And slowly disappears,
    Leaving her with nothing
But a lone feather and her tears.

    She holds the feather close
    Once again closing her eyes
And with her love in mind
    She slowly, quietly dies.

    Her body vanishes,
    Leaving the angel’s feather,
    The note's words forever stating,
    “Always together.”
