Leaden boy with coal-hued eyes walks all by himself
His shadow walks behind, reluctant to remain in step
The cattle moo him on, tell him he's not welcome here
But he never thought to stop for fear he'd disappear
The wind whispers in his ear and tells him that she knows
She knows the pain he feels inside, she knows for what he goes
Away from all that loved him once and all he'd ever known
And why abandoned he the rainbow that had made him glow
The rythm of his thumping feet becomes his impetus
His mantra, keep on moving and be sure you won't be missed
He drifts into the setting sun over horizon red
And falls over edge of the world, a gray boy made of lead

Description:
I wrote this on a road trip driving across kansas.
I'm gay and it's about me denying myself for the sake of my God and my friendships.
It causes me pain, but it will all be over and worth it some day.
