Don't talk to me about semantics unfelt...
About leaning wishful hopeful longing
Tasteless, windy semantics.
Waste not your precious breath
On borrowed phrases,
Stock-jarred ramblings...
Like a witless man reciting
Shakespearean sonnets
To a desperate woman,
Ignorant of true purpose.
Rather, instead,
Recite to me the verb;
Not in word alone.
Recite to me the word
That clings when nothing clings,
That gives when there is none left given.
Recite to me, with purpose, the verb;
Not in word alone.
Be not ignorant;
Be not deceived;
For when where truth stands,
It needs no crutch.
