• Oh, look how it smiles at me!
    The glinting blade of uncertainty!
    Sharpened like the serpent’s tongue,
    Listless, burning secrets sung.

    Comforting with savage lies,
    The serpent's poisoned jewel eyes
    Penetrate to the very core,
The razor bite, we are no more.

Slicing through from flesh to bone,
    Wanton in pursuit of home.
How easily the edge does glide,
Skinning us from head to hide.

The crimson sparkles like fallen stars,
Alas, what better blood than ours?
    The sacrificial lamb's demise;
"Bring out your dead," the serpent cries.

Our frozen lips, they never speak –
Inside the corpses our spirits shriek.
    Tearing sinew from bloody bones,
"Let us take feast," the serpent moans.

Oh, look how it smiles at me!
    The glinting blade of uncertainty!
    Sharpened like the serpent’s tongue,
Laughing while our souls are wrung.
