• The Girl in the Corner
A Poem By; One and Only bmanschiro
    A Beautiful Girl,
    Alone in the corner.
    Nobody cared
    Nobody mourned her

    Alone, the girl was,
    Alone in the world,
    Brown eyes filled with tears,
    Her hair, dark brown curls.

    She sat all alone,
    With no one beside her
    Hiding away from
    The pain deep inside her

    But, Alas! One day,
    A daring young man
    Felt pity towards her
    And assembled a plan.

    He sat in the corner
    And spoke to the girl,
    With her pretty brown eyes
And her hair, dark brown curls.

    They sat and they talked,
    For days and days.
    They sat and talked,
    They laughed and played.

    One day, however,
The boy was not to be found,
    The girl looked all day,
    She looked round and round.

    A note, she found,
At her spot in the corner,
    Addressed from the boy,
The boy who had mourned her.

    The note, it read,
    “Please do not cry,
    I must leave at once
    I must say goodbye.”

    This, at once,
    Brought tears to her eyes,
    She sat in her corner,
    And began to cry.

For the boy she had loved,
    And had loved her,
    Had left silently,
    Not uttering a word.

    But the pretty young girl,
    Her pretty brown eyes,
    Her hair, dark brown curls,
    Had more reasons to cry,

    For she was alone again,
    Alone in her corner,
    Mourning her loved one,
The one who had mourned her.

    But, Alas! A noise,
    A voice from the side,
    Another, shyer boy said
    “I’m not going to hide.”

“I’ve watched you for a while now,
I couldn’t help but to stare,
    At your pretty brown eyes,
    And your pretty brown hair.”

    “I’ve hid in the shadows,
    Watching you closely,
    Building up courage,
    My chance fast approaching.”

    “But, it never came,
The guy beat me to you,
    And I, acting foolish,
    Didn’t know what to do.

    “Again, I watched,
    And waited in the sun,
    You and the other,
    Were having so much fun.”

    “My hope, you see,
    Was fading away.
I thought I’d never get you,
    Not till today.”

    “I’ve always liked you,
    Right from the start,
    Until now I’ve never said,
    What was in my heart.”

    He paused, his heart pounding,
    And then the girl smiled,
    She said,
“Please, sit with me for a while.”

    The boy smiled and sat,
    His heart started to dance.
And this poem ends with the start of new romance.
