• Sometimes on a sleepless night,
    I begin to wonder.
What purpose does love serve but to cause us pain?

Without love there would be no heartbreak.
    No, not even hate.
For without one extreme, the other cannot exist.

They say that love is beautiful.
    Wonderful.
    Magical.
    I say love is painful.

That one person takes a piece of your heart,
    And walks away with it.
You miss them so much because you can’t stop thinking about them:
    Their eyes.
    Their smile.
    Their gentle kiss.
And you fall in love all over again.
    The cycle just repeats itself.

But sometimes on a sleepless night,
As you lay with your arms around me,
I can understand what they say.

And though it hurts when you’re away,
    I deal with it.
Because you always come back to me.
    And if you go,
you’ll take a part of me that I can never get back.

So I’ll love through the pain.
    Through the fights.
As long as you always come back to me.

There will be good times and bad,
But as long as you’re there the pain disappears.
So no matter what I say, never forget:
    I love you.
