• The snow fell down and caked the trees
To rid this town of its summer breeze
And like the seasons alter it has dawned on me
Music is the only medication that I need

Replacing the ground with an icy grasp
Sometimes the snow will hit with a wintry splash
Causing us to slip and slide and miss the road
Which makes us feel so far from home

Until that hail hits and breaks the ties
Until the storm ceases a bit inside
It’s not a matter of dealing with the pain
It’s about plugging your headphones in and breathing again

Exhale to the vacant wet air and spongy moss
And wave goodbye to desolation and a sense of loss
    Welcome spring and healing sunrays
That shines over skin and melts the winter dread away

There’s no need for hiding, no need for therapists
Or drugs in the form of euphoria and endless prescriptions
When melody comes in many forms complimented by symphony
Unfolding compositions on a sword with six strings

Life breeds music and music breeds meaning
What a cleansing feeling of hearing voices singing
Submerged into a different depth of reality
An immeasurable extent separating self and a beautiful sense of peace

It’s like running through an open field with no shoes on
As the daisies and blades of grass kiss your ankles so soft
A pirouette into happiness as all gloom falls
Reveries commence as time has stalled

And if the rainfall comes as the grey clouds possess the atmosphere
The lightning strikes and thunder makes judgment unclear
The field becomes a playground of raindrops and puddle sounds
Which echoes in the distance as all memories drown

It’s creating beauty out of destruction on days as these
It motivates a smile formation without the lock and key
Music heals the soul and stitches the wounds
Just like after the rain, flowers will bloom

It inspires me to write, inspires me to think
Animates these lines and causes thoughts to sing
It travels through my bloodstream, in the boundaries of my veins
Owning me completely like the weather patterns change
