• we are silhouettes
    shadows carved onto the pavement
we touch the ground, but we never truly feel
as if this life is only an apparition
a fleeting memory, a distant, despondent dream
    touching but never feeling
    thinking, but never knowing
    seeing, but never believing
we need to open our eyes
    open our minds
    and outstretch our arms
to embrace this place we call home
this place of beauty, both natural and artificial
two shades corresponding into a beautiful mixture
if only we could hold on a little longer!
to really experience the fullest that our flawed existence can provide
    then we would truly live
