• Daily Morning Walk

Early October, the weather’s cold; my least favorite time of the year a month or two away. Sighing into the air, my breath comes out in a white cloud. Looking up at the huff, the eastern star catches my attention. Walking farther down the path, streaks of orange come into view. The sky still drowsy with night, orange is accompanied by purple and pink.

Reaching the end of the gravel road, I see my usual perch. Sitting on the little brick stoop, I am soon accompanied by my friends. Their croaks, chirps, and all their cries are forever saved into a special place of this Native American boy’s heart.

The rising sun arrives to make the sky a beautiful blue. I hear my neighbor’s footsteps echo down the tunnel of trees. Soon an out of breath, overweight eleven year old is visible. That ends my daily walk down my drive way. I thank you for hearing my tale.
