• The Violinist

    The violinist has an amazing talent.
    Her fingers think for themselves
    And her whole body moves with the beat.
    They all lead up to this moment;
    The moment which the violinist has waited for
    Her whole life.

    She stands before a large crowd
    Waiting for the right time to play.
    She lifts up the instrument that will determine her fate
    And begins to play
    Her desired song.

    The crowd is still,
    But the violinist isn't.
    She keeps playing
    Until her mind is quiet,
    Except for that song
    That is ringing in her head
    Which the violinist uses
    For guidance.

    The song is over,
    And all is calm
    But for the violinist's heart
    That is still racing
    With excitement and fear,
    For what is to come next
    Will not be the end yet.

    Now one person stands up,
    And that person is clapping.
    Then another stands
    And does the same.
    Soon a chain reaction starts
    Of people
    And their standing ovation.

    Paralyzed with awe
    The violinist smiles.
    She knew she did well.

    She walks off the stage,
    Amd without any warning
    Her violin starts to grow warm.
    She knew her violin was feeling the same thing:
    They both have accomplished
    The impossible.

    The violinist thanks her violin
    And goes off into the real world
    Where she will finally
    Fulfill her dream:
    To become someone she never knew will be possible
    In her lifetime;
    To be the greatest violinist of all.

    This all started
    With a small dream;
    A dream of a four year old,
    Who wanted to see the real world
    Through an instrument,
    And that instrument was the violin,
    Which now belongs to
    The violinist.
