• What happens to sound erased?

    Does it evaporate
    Like a ghost dismissed?
    Or soar away like a falcon--
    And then fade away in the mist?
    Does it feel like the world quit talking?
    Or turned its back on you-
    Like a bold, indifferent mime?

    Maybe it just hides
    Like a shy child covering their face.

    Or does it just disappear without a trace?
