This place is really special to me, because it helped me meet all of you. You guys have been so helpful throughout all the years of drawing, and it was mostly because of this guild.
So do I want this place to go after this year?
Truthfully....I'm not sure.
And I can say for myself the reason that I don't post in the Arenas anymore, or participate in contests, or any other -0 stuff is MOSTLY because of school. So i guess i could try and draw more things in the Arenas. But, the Arenas were really alive and fun awhile ago, but now i rarely see posts. Of course, we can change that. I miss doing comics so much, but i never have any good ideas anymore.

SO WHAT I THINK: Is that we could sort of tryyy to make this thing alive again, because i love it to death and i really feel like crap when not being active with it.
BUT, if all else fails, then we should just quit it by the end of the year.

This place should remain; remember the good ol' drawing chat thread? Best sleepless time ever.

One thing I note is that alot of us seem to be truely occupied. Even on Deviantart, the artflow has slowed. Alot of us are occupied by heavy school work, it is that time of year, and I know Im going somewhere I cant use the computer for art for the majority of the summer.
Generally, I think the responsibility lies on people to check on here daily. Theres no point in one person lonely posting back and forth with themselves, so everyone has to make sure to pop in now and then.
I like the contests, and we shouldn't be discouraged by the lack of participants. Sometimes you cant just that comic idea running, sure.
I think we should find some off-site things to do sometimes. maybe we all make a meeting on iScribble according to some preset date, and present a countdown until so we know when it'll be if we suck at timezones.

As for the Arenas? I think thats out of our hands. Unless Gaia does something to spice them up again, were going to be posting for nothing. maybe we should bring it to their attention as a group? Would mean alot of work though.

Agreed
I kinda want to re-start this so we can appeal to the new comic artists on the arenas, but the problem is, since we stopped posting there, is not like they know who we are anymore

Still, the end of the year as a timeline sounds good to me

Sad thing is we're not a big group like we used to be, and the kind of people that could go to the arenas and ask for help, say, the most popular artists, I'm not even sure if they still post, say LadiiSaucii and that one orange girl that had the best 2 comics on the arenas. They're part of the guild but I'm not even sure if they still visit Gaia

I'm all up for the group activities, but we need to work on that, and yes, schooltime is a pain for most members.

I wouldn't mind posting in the arenas if it wasn't for that freaking size rule, it's like trying to have an art gallery on photobucket

vacu, wasn't it? I'm hoping for more activity in the summer. I'll still try to poke here now and then. But I think most people wont see this announcement; we might have to poke them while they're on deviant.

Vacu, right, wonder what happened to her. She had her own aviart store, so I guess she's busy.
Summer will be a busy time for everybody with no acces to a computer, I can tell. Also, yeah, I already made an announcement of orts on the DeviantArt group, so far only Zero has replied

um well i know i havent been in deviant art or in gaia often, yea the same reason as the others , school have me busy (same reason of why i couldnt participate in previous contests), i stop posting things on the arena because the only comics i posted there was the ones from "vira and nick" they were simple and short, but i stopped doing them and in deviatnart i mostly post series or differents drawings, so i dont know =S i will try to put things again in the arenas like i used to, to see if more ppl would like to join or participate in our contests

Blasphemy! This is the guild where I met all of my best friends at! In fact, I own a guild right now, and it's BECAUSE of this guild that I have the leadership elements I own today. Actually, I wouldnt even have a STORY if it weren't for here, because Zero is actually one of the main characters and was key to Grunt's backstory.

Maybe I think we should all just restart as a fresh guild, and through this summer, start new on contests, RPs, threads, and forums.

oh, and you could also do this weekly update thing i do in MY guild. its like.....you post a giant article/blog every week or so, basically outlining the new updates of the guild and stuff.

No use :/
I think I'll have to search and destroy, meaning I'll go trough old threads and erase them. At the beggining of the month we'll have a fresh start of some sorts. So here's my plan.

We draw
Yeah, we make a comic just for the arenas, something planned for the crappy resolution required. We do a good job and sing it as part of -0
That'll do the trick

Wait until I say anything anyway

No one has the dedication and energy you do to do weekly updates mate XD Certainly this guild has helped start many things, form many friendships and cultivate much creativity for some people, and i'm glad for that. Be glad for the things that happened, and then try to let go, i think that's a good idea for all of us.

So are you guys really thinking of closing the guild? I just got here (*A*) lol but seriously, you guys have the only still-active general comics guild left on Gaia and it would be such a shame to see this one disappear too.

Reading through this thread, I'm interested to know the history behind -0. (I feel like I've missed out on something pretty cool by only just joining X3) Did you guys start off from Arenas? I posted my first comic in Arenas recently and then went through and voted on loads of entries, but barely any of those were even comics and even fewer were actually good. *sigh* I know what you mean about the size limit though, it's the reason I haven't put up any full-fledged comic pages, only a short gag strip. And even that suffered in terms of readability when it had to be resized. But I don't have a lot of faith in Arenas anyway since most people in there don't even seem to understand what a comic is. ~.~

But what about the Comic Creators forum? Have any of you ever hung out in there? It's like my home on Gaia.

Hey Cat,
I'm kinda in the same boat as you, I wasn't one of -0's founding members XD. From what I know, -0 started back in the gaia Arena's glory days, the original Supernovas (our captains) all met each other in the arenas and basically founded this guild in order to help new and aspiring comic artists.

In terms of posting art, DeviantArt is much better for that. In terms of discussion and hanging out and helping each other in workshops and such with a bit of friendly competition through contests, a guild is as good a place as any. Maybe this guild could come back to life if I invited new members eager to participate and create a community, kinda like you, but I'm not the leader type, I was only a member myself promoted for my artistic talents. XD

I havent looked into the Comic Creator's forum, I'll have a look, thanks!

Man, that makes me wish that I'd seen Arenas back then. That must've been a long time ago. I mean, I've been on Gaia since '04 (not in this account, this is actually a mule) but I used to hang out in places like Barton Town and Avatar Talk rather than Arenas. Mind you *looks at when this guild was founded* I got into comics on Gaia about four years ago, but I wasn't aware of much outside the Comic Creators forum. I only realised Gaia had a Comics Arena like... last year.

Haha, I absolutely know what you mean. This account I'm using is actually the mule account for the comic studio I'm head of called Catalytic Productions (unsurprisingly xD) and in the three years and nearly ten months we've been on Gaia, I've had to bring the studio back from the dead so many times. I never set out to be a leader either, I joined as a writer but the original founder disappeared and in her absence, two of the other members voted I take over since I was good at bossing people around. xD But yeah, looking through your guild and reading threads with various attempts and plans to revive the guild and get more members... I can totally relate. Not just with the studio, but with flagging roleplays, forums and writing groups inside and outside Gaia... I'm never the leader but I always seem to be the one who refuses to let something die, even when I probably should just give up x3 Even now the studio is struggling slightly due to members leaving or going inactive, but I know that we can be great if I can just find people to stick with us... you know?

Anyway, if you want to try and get -0 going again then I'll help in any way I can. You guys can try advertising in the Comic Creators forum for a start. I'm sure people there would be interested to know about this sort of guild and they're bound to have suggestions about things they'd like to see here as well.

Heh, I'm surprised, but then Gaia is so vast that it's easy just to confine yourself to one area of it and not know about the others at all. The CC is a good forum, although the regulars can be quite blunt and no-nonsense in the things they say and they have little patience for n00bs xD They have strong opinions and arguments tend to flare up a lot but just ignore them. razz

If you're interested, I actually wrote a blog entry about Gaia's relationship with comics which covers some of the resources it has which you can make use of as a comic creator. At the bottom I added some useful links, of which -0 is one :3
