The Sea and Beach

Since the Weyr is right next to the ocean, that serves as a second lake. There is a lake inside the Weyr, but for any riders and dragons who want to relax at the beach and talk with a pod of dolphins, this is great. The beach is also included, so you can oil your dragon there or just laze about in the sun. But don't get too lazy; we have to run a tight shift in this Weyr.

Verenna wandered out to the beach after eating, she figured she had time still after her conversation with R'lan to wander about, soaking up the sun. Baneth was about as well...speaking of...

Was he cute? a female dragon voice interupted her thoughts.

"Baneth!" Verenna's shock was so great that she spoke out loud.

The Green was unrelenting. Well?

Yes, I suppose so. But how did you know?

Baneth flew into view, and landed smoothly three feet away. You were humming. You never hum any more. It's good to see you happy. What's his name?

R'lan, but he's a Bronze rider, so forget it. Not to mention that he's older than me. But enough of that. How was your nap?

Interesting, Baneth's voice turned dreamy. The sun was so warm today.

Good. I'm glad to hear it. I think I'll take one myself. Verenna stretched out on a nice section of sand and curled against her dragon. The sun was warm. It felt nice.

Verenna awoke a little while later, and thought to herself, R'lan has probably found his weyr by now. Baneth picked up on the thought and added, And I would like to meet him as well, don't forget. Verenna climbed up on Baneth's back and they flew away in search of R'lan and Ellorth's weyr, leaving the alluring beach behind.

R'lan followed Verenna and Baneth on his Ellorth out to the beach.

I'm glad you have found someone you can talk to besides me. Ellorth told his rider.

I think I am too.

Baneth circled down on to the beach, and Verenna hopped down lightly. She waved R'lan over.

Ellorth swept into the water and swam over. A drenched R'lan dismounted.
"You could have warned me, Ellorth."

That's no fun. Ellorth chuckled.

Verenna openly laughed at the sight of the water-drenched R'lan. "Nice."

((I never realized how dry my RPing was. wink ))

"Thanks," R'lan replied, trying to keep a straight face but failing miserably. He grinned and wrung his clothes out as much as possible. "Okay, now what, my trusty guide of beaches." R'lan smiled at Verenna.

I think I'll watch from here. The water feels so good. Ellorth commented.

"Are you sure you wouldn't rather have a swim?" she teased, "Since you're wet already?" Only a grin revealed that she was joking, as she said it with an otherwise normal tone and straight face. "But if not, follow me this way!" Verenna pointed the way along the coast, aware that the dragons were opting to stay behind. "There's a really cool tide pool up there. It has the best skipping stones anywhere that I've seen."

R'lan shook his head with chagrin and followed Verenna. "Sounds good."

Verenna purposely looked away from R'lan so that she could grin excitedly. She had never shown anyone else the tide pool, even though she was aware of the fact that other people knew where it was. "Do you skip stones?"

"Yeah, I managed to skip one stone five times. I searched for it afterwards but I didn't find it," R'lan told her, recalling how he had searched for what seemed like an hour. That had been his best skipping stone.

She raised an eyebrow, impressed. "Well done. I'm usually lucky to get 3, but I have been known get 6 or 7 occassionally." Verenna led the way lightly through the hot sands, out to an inlet on the edge of the island. She stopped suddenly, a rocky basin right below her feet. "See?" The waters sparkled crystal clear, and little red fish darted about in the pool. Pebbles lined the bottom.

"Nice," R'lan commented as he picked up a rock and turned it over in his hand. "Such a beautiful little pool too." He glanced up and smiled at Verenna.

"I rather like it. Suites me just fine. I can go here and skip stones all I want while Baneth suns back there." She hopped down to sit on the lip of the pool and dangle her feet in the cool water, swirling the smaller stones around gently. "There isn't much evidence of many people besides me coming here, so it's usually very quiet."
