At that moment, Knightsoul and Falcon walked in. "Sosol, I need a bottle of your strongest stuff, now." He looked at Azana and said "Azana, Sosol, this is my friend and partner, Red Falcon. We call him Jake. Jake, this is Azana and Sosol." To Mike, he added "I take it from the look on her face that you mentioned Kage's shooting?"
"I did."
"It's unfortunate, and I didn't want to believe it, but it's true. Angeles has crossed the line and crossed me. Neither are good ideas."

"Now hold on...If you walked in to her manor, that's a move on your part. Kage might've too, and some twit might have fired. And Angeles, though powerful and commanding, can't necessarily control her minions after she sends them out. It's like trying to stop me from making a side trip to the tracks when i head out for groceries."

Sosol nodded, immediately getting to work on the strongest drink he had concocted, a certain ruby-red knockout punch he called Pandemonium...a quartet of them, three for the heroes and one for a certain agent who was going to need help getting to sleep that night.
Azana felt around for a seat, her knees feeling weak with the idea that Angeles had indeed gone that far. Attacking Eleanora, while a stupid idea, at least had some variety of twisted logic. But this...no...
"It wasn't...fatal...was it?" She asked, her mind immediately falling to the worst case scenario. Some might scold her about it, but it had a way of turning any news into good news.

"No, ma'am. Prism and myself performed the surgery personally. I can assure you that the girl was alive and well last time I saw her.."
"That is true, Gren. But I found Angeles standing over Kage in the forest, not the manor, holding the smoking gun herself. Angeles didn't deny shooting her, and after I came back form taking Kage to get help, I found the redhead waiting for me. I can safely assume that Angeles let her off the leash."

Azana breathed a sigh of relief, reaching out to find a glass on the bar near her. She looked at the familiar liquid inside of it and gave a silent nod of gratitude to Sosol before taking a sip. He always seemed to know just what was needed...and she doubted it was because of his abilities; that was just the kind of guy he was.
"What were they doing out there, I wonder...?" She asked, wanting desperately to believe that it was all a misunderstanding. Even if it was, though, it didn't change her part in all of it...
"Here you go!" Sosol said with a smile, putting a rather large glass in front of each of the heroes. "Don't drink it all at once...it was originally made for someone who claimed to be immune to alcohol..."
He looked to Gren, the smile fading almost immediately. Hearing her out doesn't change the outcome, he thought to himself, pulling out another glass for a drink of Gren's choice. It just makes it harder...

"I did let her live and I tried to reason with her and hear her out. Each time, I was met with increasingly violent threats. She knows I'm not scared of her, so she went after my friends. Shooting Kage was the last straw. I'm done being reasonable with her."

"Gin. Just gin." He glanced over at Knight, sunny disposition dimmed considerably. "Homogeneous thinking makes bad decisions...and besides, I'm the kind of idiot who will let even the worst people in the world try to defend their ideas." With a flash of thought toward Vicious, he set down the bag from the zoo.

Emily came out of her room rubbing her eyes, holding onto the large panther plushie. She slowly walked down the stairs with her hand on the railing before going over to Gren and crawling up into his lap, with some difficulty as she held onto the panther all the way up.

"Why don't you try and explain then?" Kageko asked Gren as she came down the stairs, "It can't hurt, right?". She had managed to come in from the roof by going through one of the windows and had been listening on the conversation for quite a while. Of course, she had made sure to have remained unnoticed, something that she was very good at doing, her specialty actually. "Besides," Kageko continued, this time to anyone in particular, "I've suffered worse things than a bullet wound to the shoulder."

Gren smiled gently, perking up some. "Had trouble sleeping, hon?" He helped Emily into his lap.
At Kageko's question, he smiled a lopsided grin. "You're looking pretty good!"

Emily rubbed her eyes and yawned again before leaning against Gren's chest and murmuring, "did auntie Azana like her present?"

Sosol gave a short nod and floated over the bottle of gin, pouring a reasonable dose before sliding the tumbler across the bar to him as the bottle replaced itself on the shelf.
"You're not an idiot," Azana said with a sigh, taking another sip of the cocktail. "Just lucky..." She looked down into her glass, remembering the cults, megalomaniacs, and sociopaths she had faced. "Some ideas, Gren...are just wrong. There's no way to reconcile them with peace, or even with reality..." While it could have applied to any villain she had taken out, only Charles came to mind.
Kageko's appearance shook her out of those thoughts, though her greeting was cut short by Emily's soft voice.
Auntie...Azana...? She looked to the small girl holding the panther, and even though she hadn't even seen what it was, she said, "I loved it...thank you, Emily."

Emily hummed sleepily and looked over to Azana through half open eyes that seemed unable to blink in sync. She then shifted slightly so that her small had appeared from under the stuffed panther's belly and she flexed and curled her fingers in a small sort of wave before snuggling against Gren. Thinking of the people as animals was really working for her, they weren't as scary now.
She hummed an affirmative to Gren's inquiry and her eyes closed briefly before opening slightly again and trying to figure out what animal MacPere would be. MacPere had said he was a crane, and Azana was a rhino, then what was MacPere?
