I know that I should be working on homework right now, but I just needed a minute to rant. My brother is a freshman as the local community college. (He was rejected from the school I attend.) Because I'm an English major, they wanted me to edit his first paper for him. He put in just about everything that should never be put in a paper. He put that a character was "pissed" and that the town was "screwing themselves." In addition, he used numerous run-ons, contractions, and colloquialisms. That doesn't even account for his numerous structural errors, frequent vague references, and poor use or tense. He didn't really have a point or support any of his claims. He mostly just said that someone "should" do something or "needs to" do something. Even with all of these things, my parents told me to "look over his paper and make a few corrections for about 10 minutes." After fixing the technical problems in the first paragraph (not including structure and content), I had already taken 10 minutes. Everyone was mad at me for trying to make his paper into a "senior thesis" or something. My mom didn't even want me to correct his formatting to make it MLA format. gonk They said all of this because he is just a freshman and this is just his first college paper. But seriously! It's like asking me to fix a broken dam with a few band-aids in a 10 minutes! crying (Did I mention that my brother refused to be in the same room with me while I worked on HIS paper because he had to read about 10 pages for class? And he just ignores that fact that I've been sick and I have way more work to get done that he has?) xp Where is the justice and reason?

Sorry about your brother's paper. Seems he's just not suited to being literary. If he's that bad he should be going to the school's writing center. It'd be easier on (almost) everyone.

Sorry that I got mixed up on that. Sometimes I forget that there is a world outside of Gaia. sweatdrop I have some butterfly wings, a little tiara, and a fake wand, so I guess I throw on a formal and go as a fairy princess AGAIN. xp I need to branch out a bit.

I sorry to hear that you're sick too. sad *hugs* (Virtual hugs are germ free.) wink I hope that you get better soon. I was planning on going down to Judson for pageant this weekend, but I'm not going to be able to go. I have too much work to do.

And about that paper, his professor won't be getting out a red pen. She'll get out a red paint brush and just paint the whole thing red. rofl

Those are my favorites too! And I love the airship just for the Final Fantasy element. lol But, I don't know anyone who could afford to buy one who didn't stock up on donation items back in 2003. Then again, there is a whole new wave of nouveau riche Gaians thanks to cash. Did you notice that you couldn't pay for those items with cash? Can you imagine how much those things would cost if you could pay with cash? eek

And speaking of cash, this whole Gaia cash thing is getting a bit ridiculous. Using cash to cheat in a gold lottery? (The lottery winners could go shopping there I guess.) It's kind of sending the old members poor house. How could it take so much money to run a website that most of the users are forking out hundreds of dollars for it? I mean, if you think about it, Aquariums are a gimmick to get people to buy cash and therefore fund Gaia. It's not like we have any more active users now than we did a couple of years ago.

(In case you haven't noticed, I'm not a fan of Gaia cash.)

I only have a little over 150k right now. I'm more willing to donate here or there to get mcs or maybe an rig than I am to sell of my 2003 or 2004 items.

I only have about 10k. I need to do something if I am going to be able to get prizes for a Halloween mini-vent. Then again, I'm wondering it it's even worth it to have these events. sad

I saw Zombieland today, and it was great! I highly recommend it. 3nodding

Thanks. biggrin That makes me feel a bit better. Actually, you haven't really seen a good Gaia event yet. Camp Chaos is mostly considered to be poor executed. There have been much better events than that one. The school one was a bit of an anomaly. They have never done an event that required so little before. It was probably done to break up the gap between events. I hope that the official Halloween Event is good this year. I really liked the vampires vs. humans one that they did in 2007 because you could post normally while leveling up. And Alvinette, if you enjoy reading the RPG, then join in! We can always use another participant! Or if you don't want to join in on this one, join in on the next one! heart
