"Thank you..." he said, taking the gauze and wrapped his hand around to apply pressure. Then came the bandage, deftly wrapped, soon done. He sighed, exhausted, more despondent than ever. "How many times, though..." he thought flatly, 'how many times am I going to have to be betrayed, before I just give up all together..?'

Zulma gave a nod to Tyler and whispered a thank you.
Her gaze looked around her. It looked like Gren was wounded on his arm too. The window was broken and blood was on the floor.

Tears filled her eyes. She had failed. As the innkeeper she should have preventing it by killing Angeles when she could.

She wanted to feel Baldur's fur under her fingers. She wanted to wrap herself around him. So Anansi was Baldur...? Everyone knew but no one spoke. Whose idea was it? She did not know. Did she care? A snob crossed her chest and she cried silently for long minutes. She was a failure.

Exhausted the woman fell asleep, tears still rolling down her cheeks.

((Well that was a hell of a thing...sigh...off for now, be back. Feel free to move Zulma in her room or around if you need to. smile ))

Skuld watched Gren attend to his arm silently. He finished it in short order, and it seemed like he was ready to go.

"...your arm is not your only wound, is it...?" She asked, not exactly sure what this feeling was but definitely noticing that it was unpleasant.

Azana returned from upstairs, back in something considerably more casual but still reeling from what had just happened. She looked no one in the eye, sitting at a table rather than near Sosol.

Tyler had a rather odd moment of empathy for the innkeeper. He glanced back toward the changed Azana, noticing a similar look on her face. The inventor shook his head, standing and leaving the innkeeper's comfort to someone else as he went to find a mop. Someone had to clean up the mess...

Chris picked up Zulma and carried her to her room before returning downstairs. He sent his team, except Crystal, back to base to keep an eye out for Angeles. As they left, he and Crystal went to sit at their usual table. Neither one spoke. All they could think about was what had just happened.

He glanced over from the side of his eye. "...No, it's not...but it's not something I'd like you to have to see...'s not something I'd make my worst enemy see." He smiled crookedly, raising his clean hand and patting her back. "Don't worry about an old goat like me...I'll be okay."

Skuld stepped forward and embraced Gren gently, taking advantage of the fact that he was seated. "I know you will, Gren. However, that will not end my concern..."

She pulled away, looking sadly toward the main room and the others. "I...I think I should leave soon..." The sensations of disappointment, despair, anger...everyone, all at once...it was becoming harder to keep from crying herself.

Tyler had found the mop and was now trying to take care of the blood in the main room before it dried and became a permanent fixture. There was still the stairs, and wherever Angeles had emerged from. He had a compound back at the Labs, one that could get blood out of near anything...but the labor kept him busy and concentrated. He couldn't start thinking about it...about that child in the vampire's arms, about the pained look on Zulma's face, the unusual amount of anger in Gren.

With a sigh, he pulled out his phone, leaning the mop handle against the wall as he sent a text to Remy: Experiencing a momentary setback...I promise we will rescue you. That was about all the detail he was willing to give, and he went back to the mopping.

Azana rested her head on her folded arms, her eyes closed in thought and barely reined-in anger. She has Remy. She has Emily...my niece Emily. She has my cloak. Gren's wounded, Zulma's wounded, Baldur's wounded. The Knights are keeping tabs on her. I am nearly recovered from yesterday, Sosol will be fine by tonight, Tyler is unharmed...lucky b*****d. She grumbled a few curses under her breath, grabbing her puzzle box to try and take her mind off things.

Sosol looked around the room as he waited for the numbness to subside...had Azana not held back at that last second, he might not have survived such a direct shot. Everyone was in shock, in despair, disappointed in their own personal failures...he himself felt a large pang of guilt. Angeles had gotten away because of him...he allowed it to happen, designed it, even. All because of a plan he could not speak...one that Angeles, in spite of her recent assaults, was still sticking to.

Why did you have to go and do that...? He thought, gripping his pant legs tightly. Knowing what you're up to doesn't even begin to make this feel any more right...

Adjusting slightly into the hug to prevent detection, he sighed, leaning his head against her shoulder, keeping his mind kindly cleared of his turmoils. "This is probably the worst introduction to the Inn you could have had...I'm sorry, Skuld. You don't have to stay and deal with this, not if you don't want to."

(Have to go watch Die hard soon. o3o )

Skuld shook her head in protest. "No...this place, even in pain, is wonderful. When one falls, everyone's hand is there to support...not even the GMO is that cohesive..." She gave a smile to Gren, even though her eyes shimmered with the promise of tears.

"You even have Mr. Hunter in on it now," she chuckled, gesturing out to the genius as janitor.

Tyler was scrubbing at a particularly difficult spot when his phone vibrated. He pulled it out and read over the text.

Someone else...? The kid...! He thought incredulously, smiling in relief as he closed the phone and returned it to his pocket. Gren...he had to know there was hope! He left the mop against the wall, walking back in on Skuld and Gren.

"Our insider just got in contact with us...the kid's still alive."

He smiled warmly, a bit of his kindly spark back in place. "Well...we do aim to please." he said humbly.

At Tyler's announcement, he nodded, face set but somewhat relieved. "Thank goodness...I can only hope she hasn't been turned..." Shaking his head slightly, now calm enough to articulate himself, he pulled out his phone and sent a text to MacPere. No doubt he wouldn't like this, but it's important.

'Eli, Angeles took Remy and Emily. There was a huge fight over it, naturally, and there was a bit of a rough-up, but w're all more or less okay. Still, I'm reconsidering my more peaceful methods. She needs to pay, and I'm going to be a hand in it.

I'm sorry I keep sending only bad news, but I think you'd be angrier if I didn't say anything about something this important...don't worry about this; we've got it covered.

Love in abundance, G'

Skuld smiled at Tyler, who was, in an odd twist, the happier person at the Inn. That was good news considering the shape the child seemed to be in when they had escaped.

After Gren had sent the text, Skuld looked to Tyler solemnly. "Mr. Hunter...please take me back to headquarters."

Tyler's smile faded somewhat as Gren brought up something he hadn't considered. If that little girl was turned...

Skuld's request snapped him back to attention, and he quirked an eyebrow to her. "You want to leave...? Ah...you want to give a report to Stevenson."

"Yes, Mr. Hunter. As an incident at the Inn of Peace, RNG, and involving our allied group, the Millennium Knights...Miss Stella will want to know." Skuld said, her assistant formality returning to her.

Tyler shrugged, walking out of the room to retrieve his teleporter. "Can't argue with that logic," he answered, though he knew Stella had a personal interest in the matter. As he crossed the main room, noticing Sosol was taking things rather hard. He picked up his bag from the table, giving a comforting grin to the psychic.

Sosol watched him, focusing his gaze somewhere other than his eyes. Besides his broken sunglasses, he really didn't feel like he could look anyone in the eye after what happened. He gave a solemn nod, pushing himself to his feet and making his way shakily to the comfortable spot behind the bar. Parts of his body still tingled and rebelled against the movement, but there was no time to sit and brood...not for him, at least.

Tyler returned to Skuld, all the settings keyed in. All he had to do was activate it. "Any goodbyes you want to say...?"
Skuld shook her head with a polite grin. "I will return...farewells would be unnecessary."
"Your loss," he said, activating the teleportation and vanishing with Skuld in a flash of light.

Azana put down the puzzle box, unable to make and progress on it with all the thoughts running through her head. Things had gotten progressively more difficult and more complicated, culminating in the loss of Emily and her cloak to the vampire woman. At the flash of light, she realized that at least some support would be on the way. It seemed like they'd need it...

Bladur woke up and his wounds were healed. He groaned and stood up, looking down at himself and grunting slightly as he walked over and wrapped a towel around himself. he looked around before looking up, "where's Zulma?" he asked in a husky voice.

"I believe the superheroes returned her to her room," Sosol answered him, pointing toward the stairs. "She should be alright, but she would only leave you after losing consciousness."

Azana looked back toward Sosol, sending him a drink order. She was getting thirsty and needed something to calm the nerves. Emily...she just started calling me Auntie... Her brows furrowed at the thought...she was building a new family, and it was already being broken.

Baldur sighed in relief then sat on a chair and rubbed hi chest, "this is a mess," he murmured, "if anything, I did not want her finding out this way...," he looked up, "the child?"

"With Angeles. Status unknown," Azana answered almost mechanically, looking to the shapeshifter. "Sol tried to make a grab for her, but it didn't quite work out."

Sosol nodded in agreement with the story. In all honesty, he was earnest in his effort to get Emily away from the vampire...in fact, he would have been happy with a simple trade-off. Alas, since when had anything worked out like he planned or wanted?

Well...I did get Az...

Baldur sighed, "vampire...," he stood up and walked upstairs. Coming back down shortly after in the extra pair of Angeles' pants and sat back down, "we need to do this quickly, and not just because I want to."
