Abel Balas Durmstrang
"Felicitări, Evangeline, Abel replied to the the Beauxbatons champ. As he gave his congratulations in his native language, Abel realized how much he had missed speaking Romanian. He knew that French and Romanian were relatively similar languages, and therefore Evangeline would probably understand a good deal of Romanian vocabulary. It was kind of a relief, meeting someone that he wouldn't have to speak English around 100% of the time.
However, "relief" was not a feeling that stuck with Abel for long as Evangeline mentioned the Yule Ball. Nervousness for the tournament probably wouldn't set for another day or two, but his anxiety concerning the Yule Ball was immediate. Abel nodded at Evangeline's question at being first to dance, and forced a smile at Gregory's comment about showing up without a date. "Quite embarrassing indeed. I must admit I'm quite nervous for the ball, the dancing especially..." The dance the champions were required to kick off the event with was a classical dance, which Abel knew he could handle. The more modern dancing is what worried him the most.
The smile on Gregory's face obviously meant that he had already secured a partner for the ball. And surely Evangeline would have no trouble, judging by the way all of the Hogwarts boys and his Durmstrang peers drooled when she entered the room. Abel was at a complete loss when it came to what he was going to do. Obviously he couldn't go dateless. What would he do, dance with air at the ball's opening? It simply wasn't an option. But on the other hand, what if he did manage to find a date of his... "liking" to attend with him? Never had a champion attended the ball with a date of the same sex. It would certainly give the school quite a shock. As he looked out over the crowd of students watching his and the other champion's every move, he wondered if there were even any other gay students in attendance. I suppose I could always forget my plans, Abel thought to himself, as in his plans of coming out during his time here at Hogwarts. Of course, that would mean going to the dance with a female student. No matter how well he might do in the tournament, he could never be truly happy until he finally shared his secret with others. He was ready for the weight to be lifted from his shoulders, a prospect that seemed to be getting dimmer as the days passed.
"Yes, I hope we can become friends as well... That is the point of the tournament, no?" Despite his honesty about this statement (the prospect of being friends with two obviously amazing wizards was a grand one indeed), Abel suddenly grew anxious to be out of the spotlight. Wasn't there somewhere the champions had to go? Rules they had to be lectured about? He kept a forced smile on his face, though he was certainly not feeling the same way internally. He began to fidget slightly, though luckily, not enough for it to be noticeable. He didn't want anyone to be aware of his nerves.

Immersed in love's encounter The heavens merge with hell My arms release my body Your arms hold what I held Finally I know you'll take me Finally I know you fell I climb into your body Climb into my own cell Don't turn the lights on Don't turn the lights on Evangeline smiled. The Romanian language was indeed a lot like her second language, French. She preferred German over all the languages she knew, but not many of the people at Beauxbaton or Hogwarts or Durmstrang would know the language which was her native. Living in Berlin most of her life, she sometimes rambled in German accidentally before realizing that most of her friends didn't know what she was saying. So during her stay at Hogwarts, she would do her best to continue speaking English as well as she possibly could with the accent. "I have yet to find a date to the Yule Ball. It would be a travesty if I had to walk out all by myself!" She laughed gracefully behind her hand. "I guess you've gotten yourself a date already, Gregory? You're practically preening." At least, he looked confident enough to have already found a date. Evangeline could only hope to find someone who suited her taste before the Yule Ball. Looking at Abel, she smiled again. "What about you, Abel. 'Ave you found yourself a date yet?"
When Abel insisted that they would be friends, Evangeline was terribly relieved. How horrible it would have been to be in a tournament with honor-hungry men instead of these two polite gentlemen. "Yes, I suppose it is the point of the tournament, although we all know that competition can get to our heads at times. Either way, we shall 'ave a wonderful tournament." She was very optimistic about her chances in the upcoming tasks. It was an honor to represent her school and also females everywhere in the tournament by being the only girl. But she was doing this mostly for herself, you see. It would only prove to herself that she is worthy. Worthy of what, you ask? Well, we can't be quite sure of that. Perhaps, worhty of love and respect.
((I'm still a bit brain dead lol))
What's on your mind tonight Don't think too much you'll go blind Make it easy find a beast in me Now I'm not your type And I'll fly solo into my loner love While you walk and play it safe Aren't you scared I'll leave Do they mean more than me

I've made up my mind, don't need to think it over If I'm wrong I'm right, no need to look no further This ain't lust, I know this is love But if I tell the world, I'll never say enough 'Cause it was not said to you And that's exactly what I need to do if I'd end up with you When Riley walked back into the Great Hall, she looked disturbed or scared for some reason. Adele immediately thought that perhaps the girl was looking to back out on their little plan for the night. Adele didn't care much either way, but wondered what could have made her so scared so suddenly. It was certainly odd anyway. It made Adele worry, which made her want to grab for more food, but she restrained herself. Riley gave some lame story about the library not having the book she needed. Of course, Hogwarts had almost every book they could ever need for any class at any time. It was rare that they didn't have something that you were looking for. Everybody knew that. "Right. Are you okay? You look a little...freaked out..." She pretended to believe the girl's story, but worried.
She didn't know why she worried. Hell, she barely even knew Riley. Why should she give a crap if suddenly she looked gaunt? The truth was, it was in Adele's nature to worry, which of course gave way to her stress-eating habits. It didn't take much to make her worry. But she tried to push that away. "Anyway, you haven't missed much here. Just more preening over the champions is all. God, I wish this tournament would just disappear. I could care less what happens. It's just another way to sit in the limelight while the rest of us just squander about. Makes me sick." Adele was also very good at ranting. When something was bothering her terribly, she usually vocalized this to whomever was nearest to her. This tournament was going to be hell for her the next few weeks. She hated when certain students got to act like they were celebrities or something. Like the Potters and the Weasleys. Just because their parents saved the world didn't make them anything special. For all Adele knew, Lily and Albus Potter could be the worst students in the entire school! God knew they would still get all the attention. Perhaps Adele was just a bit jealous, considering the fact that she never got a bit of attention. But she would never admit that. She liked to think that she was standing up for the underdog during her rants. She, however, was the underdog.
While Riley had been gone, she simply watched the champions talking to one another excitedly, just gushing over how great the tournament would be (no doubt!). Adele would certainly be one of the few to voluntarily miss out on the Yule Ball. She wanted nothing to do with the frilly dresses and the dancing and she certainly didn't want to see the three champions walk out and take the first dance. She would have nothing of it. She couldn't figure out why all of these teeny boppers were so excited for the event. Every girl in the school started looking for dates as soon as the tournament was announced. Adele was sure the champions would have their dates within the next week now that they'd been chosen. Yes, every girl would be approaching the two males and all of the males would be approaching Evangeline Criss. Just for the chance to walk out and partake in the first dance. Adele sighed at how sickening it really was.
But now that Riley was back, she remained mostly focused on the tournament itself and Riley's obvious distress.
Should I give up, or should I just keep chasing pavements Even if it leads nowhere? Or would it be a waste, even if I knew my place Should I leave it there? Should I give up, or should I just keep chasing pavements Even if it leads nowhere?

Adele had done that plenty of times over whatever homework she had. It was always difficult for her to stay alert when in the library for some reason. It must have been all the books. They always seemed to tire her out a bit, as she wasn't much of a reader. It made her studies rather difficult, but she managed to get by with good enough marks in all of her classes. Regardless, she didn't pester Riley about her dream or the fact that she'd fallen asleep in the middle of the library. "Yes, too much pumpkin juice maybe. They say you shouldn't have so much before dozing off or it'll give you weird dreams." Or was that milk? Adele couldn't remember which was the right one, but she was sure Riley wanted to change the subject anyway.
Adele listened to Riley again as the girl replied to her rant about the Triwizard Tournament. "Well...see...it wouldn't be me up there anyway because I didn't bother to put my name in the Goblet of Fire. I wouldn't want to risk my life just for a bit of attention. After that Cedric Diggory died last time, I'm amazed anyone would want to enter the tournament. Who knows what could happen? It worries me. Or it would anyway, if I cared at all. I mean, I have no problem with any of the champions, but I just hate seeing them preen up there about whatever it is they're talking about. Probably that bloody Yule Ball that'll be coming up this year. Another thing I don't care for. I'll do without all the frilly dresses and the dancing and the orchestra," she ranted again. But even as she spoke this, she felt worried about the three champions that stood by the staff table. They were in terrible danger now that they'd been chosen. No doubt, they knew that, but Adele still worried about the outcome of the tournament. As much as she mentioned how much didn't did care, she needed to know that nobody was going to die. Too bad she didn't take divination.
Glad for the change of subject when it came to their adventure, Adele was very pleased. "Oh I'm very excited about tonight. I just needed something that would get me away from all this muck. I honestly wouldn't care if I got expelled, you know. Sometimes I look around the Great Hall at dinner and I notice that there isn't anyone I would really miss or anyone that would really miss me. Not that I want to get expelled or anything. But if it were to happen, I don't think it would really bother me that much. But anyway! Tonight is going to be great. It'll be nice to get out of the castle for a while." It sounded a bit sad the way she explained her alienation at the school. There was nobody she really considered a friend. She and Riley had only just met really. They'd known each other, as chances were they'd had play dates as children, but they weren't really friends. If she were to ever get expelled, she'd make sure to go live with her father and get the best tutors, so her education wouldn't suffer so much.
Should I give up, or should I just keep chasing pavements Even if it leads nowhere? Or would it be a waste, even if I knew my place Should I leave it there? Should I give up, or should I just keep chasing pavements Even if it leads nowhere?

Albus stood before the entrace to the great hall. He didn't want to enter, in fact, he missed the peace serenity of his dorm. He wanted to stay there, stay alone in the dorm staring outside the window with his owl in his lap. He walked foward pushing the door open and looking around the hall. It wasn't that packed, since it was late in the day after all. Albus wasn't tired at all though, since he had been sleeping and relaxing all day. Two people caught Albus' eye. Lily and Riley. Albus hadn't been able to actually get over Riley, since he knew that was the only option right now. He sighed lightly before walking to the Gryffindor table and sitting by his sister.
"Hey Lily"
Albus spoke, only because he knew his sister would want him to. He was going to act perfectly fine for her, he didn't feel like having anyone worry over him. He examined what food was avaliable to munch all but all he saw was deserts...he didn't feel like deserts. Albus shrugged lightly and looked over in Riley's direction wondering if he should go talk to her. He really wanted to...but maybe he should bring Lily. So it wouldn't look as weird. Albus nodded and looked at his sister, a soft smile forming as he did so.
"Lily, would you go with me to talk to Riley?"

Said I forgot, but I did not Dreams we have had play in my head Did we believe the cry of the wind? Did we regret? Would we forget?
Lily was relieved to see her brother walk into the Great Hall. She'd been worried about him all day, ever since she saw him talking to Riley that morning. It only got worse when she took matters into her own hands and approached Riley herself. Obviously, something happened between them, what with the way Riley reacted to her questioning. There was no doubt in her mind that she was the reason her brother was so down. And no matter how much he spoke to her to make her feel better about it, she knew that he was hurting. But she didn't mention it to him as he sat down next to her. Hi Albus! Why don't you have something to eat? You missed dinner, but if you don't want desserts, I'm sure we could get the elves to make you something," she told him, remembering when their father told them about the portrait of fruit behind which the elves did their work. As long as they were nice to the elves, they certainly wouldn't mind making something for Albus.
Watching him, she noticed him looking over at Riley. Was she all he thought about? Lily wished there was something she could do to distract him. But she knew that he really liked Riley. A lot. Otherwise, he wouldn't be reacting in this fashion. At his question, Lily hesitated for a moment. She wouldn't mind going over to talk to Riley, but would Riley mind her being there with her brother? After their encounter in the Owlery, she wasn't sure if it was the best idea for her to go with Albus. "Er...I'm not sure she would really want to talk to me. But if you really want me to, I will." Yes, she would do this for her brother if he needed her to. However, she wasn't sure if she would only make things worse by being there. At the same time, she was very nosy and wanted to know what was going to happen. So, maybe it wasn't such a bad idea to go with him. At least, she wouldn't have to snoop around to figure out what happened.
Lily stood up. "I guess we should do this before everyone retires for the night. Everyone's eager to get all the parties started now that the champions have been chosen," she reminded her brother. The excitement still fluttered through the room. But now that all the anxiety of who would be chosen was gone, everyone wanted out of the Great Hall so they could start their own festivities for the night. There would definitely be some interesting stories to be heard in the morning.

His thoughts wandered as he awaited Lily's reply. From Riley, to food, to quidditch...maybe he should try for the team this year. They needed a beater. Before Albus could actually think deep into the subject Lily spoke and he nodded at her words. In fact, Albus was hungry, starving as a matter of fact, but he wanted to talk to Riley before he went to get something to eat.
"Well, I'd like somethign to eat but I want to talk to Riley first. Get things settled."

Albus looked around, there was really...not much to do today...well tonight. He put a hand to his chin thinking to himself, he usually did this when he was in deep thought and he heard would Lily had spoken, but it hadn't really registered, until a few seconds later Lily had spoken with Riley? Why? Ablus' heart began to race in wonder, with a mixture of nervousness and suspense. He had to find out what Lily had said. It would be either good or bad, not both, it was never both when he came to someone speaking with a person Albus liked. Not so say Albus had liked alot of people, because he hadn't, but the three people he had liked were scared off. That was due to Lily, James, and his father. Albus shrugged and looked at Lily, smiling lightly again to hide the fact that so many thoughts were whizzing through his brain right now.
"Well Lily, if you spoke to Riley already...how about we go get something to eat first? I'm starved"
He rubbed his stomach, to give enthusiasm and to distract Lily from this conversation although he knew she would most likely bring it up later in the common room. He began walking towards the oak doors of the Great Hall, walking at a slower than normal pace so Lily would be able to catach up once she began to follow him. Maybe, Albus would join the Quidditch team this year as he had thought earlier. It would be he, Lily, and James on the team. A Potter Trio. He chuckeled lightly at the thought and turned around when he reached the exit to wait for Lily.

Said I forgot, but I did not Dreams we have had play in my head Did we believe the cry of the wind? Did we regret? Would we forget?
Lily was surprised at his calm reaction to what she'd told him. She expected him to get angry with her for butting into his problems. "If you want to talk to her you can. She just told me to butt out. And she's right, I guess. It's none of my business. But that doesn't mean that she wouldn't want you to talk to her. Maybe she's waiting for you. She did look terribly perturbed before. And then you can both work this out together and you'll end up going to the Yule Ball together. It'll be great," she said as she followed him to the exit of the Great Hall. She wouldn't want him to miss his chance with Riley just because she couldn't mind her own business. Still, though she voiced otherwise, she wasn't ashamed of what she did. She was simply looking out for her depressed older brother. "Really, I don't mean to intrude on your personal business...I just want you to be happy, Al." That was the truth. It was difficult for the Potter children to find happy and healthy relationships since their father was such a celebrity. Everyone was in love with the hype, not the actual people. Lily had been used quite a few times just so someone could meet her famous father. So she understood just how hard it was for Albus.
"But...I guess if you're that hungry you can talk to Riley later. It's up to you really. The elves will be there later, though. Riley will eventually have to go to the Slytherin common room and you can't get in there unless you have dad's invisibility cloak or something." She would be terribly jealous if she found that her father had indeed given the cloak to one of her older brothers, as she had suspected on a few occasions. In any case, she wondered where it was.
