Alex rifled through a mountain of papers. She stuck one outside the in and stuck another inside. She went upstairs and stuck one on each door. She came down and went to get a drink.

He furrowed his brow, shaking his head. "Maybe, when this whole crisis is over...but for now, I can't really agree to an acting job. I mean, what if they want me to do a sex scene?"

James listened to the conversation, splitting his attention between talk of movies and the rescue mission in front of him. The idea of him as an actor was absolutely ridiculous...but if they needed any help with special effects, he'd leap on the opportunity.
Tyler continued to lean on the bar, letting Chris' blip sit on his screen. There didn't seem to be much for him to do for the time being, though he couldn't shake the feeling he'd be called upon soon enough.
Acting, huh...? He thought, listening in. Could be interesting...don't think I'm cut out for it, though.

James watched the visuals, quirking an eyebrow at a sudden turn of events. "Wait...where is she going? Everyone's over there...!"
"A battlefield is no place for a five-year-old," Tyler answered, digging into his bag for his GPS transport. "She's probably going to ask for an emergency extraction..."
"Az, do you read me? Where's Sol? And Eli? What's going on in there?" He asked, finding himself completely lost without that missing context. What happened after she blasted Chris out of Crimson mode...?

Gren looked over as he brought out some snacks, walking over to the screen display. "It this what's going on?"
He sighed, a bit relieved. "Emily...good, she's okay...but yeah, what about the rest?"

"I hear you, Tech."
"An unfortunate limitation of the visor...I can only see what she does, and right now, that's the exit. Azana, we lost track of you for a while...what's going on?" James asked, glancing over at the snacks a split second before his stomach began to growl.
"Erm, thanks, Gren..." He said sheepishly.
"And you wonder why you're a beanpole," Tyler said with a shake of his head. James lacked Tyler's focus, and it also seemed his self-care, as well. He couldn't imagine what the kid would have been like outside of GMO care.
Probably starved to death with a half-finished prototype, he thought with a smirk.
"Sol is with Remy and Chris. Emily fell asleep on my shoulder...we'll be the first ones back."
"Azana, we need an actual status report," Tyler spoke into the link, catching her omission. "Objectives, casualties...you've got some worried SO's back here who could use the information."

James handed off the headset to Tyler and looked over the plate of snacks. Given how long it had been since he had last had a meal, combined with his speedy metabolism...he wasn't particularly picky.
"I haven't really met anything I didn't like...well, I guess really spicy things. Never have agreed with me."
"...Rescue objective completed. Baldur has sustained injuries but appears to be stable. Remy is cramped but otherwise normal. Chris is normal save for his anger. Jake is normal. Sosol...is demoralized, but otherwise normal."
"Operative Brown. Status on Objective Two, neutralization of Angeles Valentine," Tyler commanded harshly, familiar with the lingo and sure that the use of formalities would likely squeeze out the information they all needed.
"Objective Two status is unknown, revised from destruction to neutralization. MacPere's status...is also unknown." The voice shook on the other end, though it was hard to tell whether it was between pained sadness or self-directed anger.

James winced slightly at the news, hearing the soft creak of Gren's grip on his chair. The genius munched on a handful of pretzels, not particularly liking how this report was going.
"Explain, Azana," Tyler requested, a bit more softly than before now that he had her talking. "You're making us nervous..."
"We were attacked on entry...Eli...he's locked in the throne room with Angeles. He has no support, and the door is guarded. He's been basically forced into a duel."
"I'm starting to feel glad I gave him that defense mechanism..."
"Actually...most of his weaponry was confiscated at the door, before they decided to fight with the moths."
"...oh...um, well, Chris must be trying to find a way in, right?"
"Correct."
