Chris sat in his room, surrounded by stacks of books. During his time at the Inn, he had noticed that there was a large number of people about with paranormal abilities. He had decided to take some time to familiarize himself with the various abilities his friends possessed, mostly to see if there was some technological method he could use to replicate it.

Sosol moved about downstairs, restocking the bar and the pantry before in the lull before the afternoon rush. He had been relatively scarce the past day or two, but it didn't seem to make too much of a difference; the warmer weather was calling people outside, so things were a bit slower than usual.
Azana arrived downstairs, crossing the floor quickly and throwing her arms around the bartender, greeting him with a kiss. "Hey there, stranger. What have you been up to?"
"Errands and other such boring things," he replied with a smile. "How did practice go...?"
"I think I've got a decent handle on those five, but I'm going to need to work on them a bit more before they're actually useful." She looked around the main floor, a little sad that she hadn't seen some of her friends lately. Gren was spending more time at the hospital with Eli...Chris had locked himself in his room with a stack of books he should never have been able to lift. James was doubtlessly working through some new theory...
"Hey, you seen Tyler?"
"Not since two days ago with that shady dealer," Sosol answered, folding his arms. "Then again, I wasn't around much yesterday...maybe he's just sleeping in."

Chris looked up from his notes and waved at Gren's entrance, his attention somewhat distracted. Nate poked his head out from the kitchen long enough to squawk his own greeting before a mountain of dough threatened to explode out the door. Nate proceeded to beat it back with a rolling pin, vanishing from sight.

Reluctantly looking up from his research, Chris couldn't help but smile at the scene before him. "No, I believe it's Nate's attempt at making a cake. He's pretty good at sushi and an unparalleled master of sandwiches, but baked goods tend to get carried away with him. Next will come the explosion..."
BOOM!
"And then the Colonel's Extra Crispy." A charred Nate walked out of the kitchen, coughed, and blacked out.
"I think we'll order out tonight, at least until I can get in there and repair the oven."

A shout could be heard from upstairs: "JAMES TAYLOR!"
"Wasn't me!!" James shot back as he dashed down the stairs only to see smoke from the kitchen and a well-done looking Nathan. "...I really don't want to know, do I?"

Gren blinked. "You'd have to have put about 10 pounds of yeast to make that happen...I'm impressed." He poked Nate's cheek gently. "Am I going to have to be the one to clean that up?"

"No, he'll clean it when he regains consciousness. Then I'll repair the stove and we'll be back in business. It's not his fault, entirely. He just wanted to do something nice for everyone. I told him he should just get a card or something."

James shook his head, taking this opportunity to take a seat. "Same old same old...incessantly working on new theories, though I did find a good radio station out here, been enjoying that."
"Suppose I could help...?" Sosol chimed in, oddly calm in spite of the sudden mess. "Zulma would kill us if we just left it like that..."

"Yeah, I'd love the help." he grinned. "And once I'm done with that, I'd like to hear about the radio station and these theories. They sound neat."
He headed into the kitchen and began drawing a bucket of hot water from the utility closet.

Sosol followed behind, shaking his head at the mess. "This was supposed to be a cake...? You don't even use yeast in most cakes," he said in mild disbelief as he hovered over the mop and a few rags. "This could take a little while..."
James walked over to the bar in Sosol's absence and poured himself a cold glass of soda. "You know...I sometimes wonder if this even does anything to me anymore..."
Azana walked down the stairs, wrinkling her nose slightly as she approached the main floor. "Why does it smell like fried--oh...guess it wasn't you after all, Tech..."

"I never use yeast in cakes...I've never even heard of using yeast in a cake." he chuckled, beginning on mopping up gobs of doughy goo.

Sosol multi-tasked with three different rags, working on counter tops and walls while Gren took the floor. "Hey...do you think I could come along on one of your visits...?" He asked hesitantly, sending one of the dirtier rags to the bucket.
"Told you," James muttered, taking a sip of the soda with a smile. "So, wanna hear what I've been thinking up?"
"Will I understand half of it?"
"Probably not."
"Go for it, then."
