[Fade_the_Pyro]

"Which would you liek to do first, Miss Karen?" Aeris said, ignoring her wish to not be called 'Miss'. It added distance between them, and Aeris was afraid of narrowing that gap. If she got too attatched to her new friend, it would be all the harder watching her grow old while she remained eternally young. Or worse, watching her run away and abandon Aeris as soon as she found out that she was a ghost. So many had done that, and she didn't think she could take any more disappointment.  

[Michiru Tendo]

Karen walked a bit faster and stopped in front of Aeris. She put her hands on her hips and tried her best to look serious, though she was still smiling a bit anyway. "I won't take this "miss" stuff from you, so you might as well stop with that formal nonsense now."  

[Fade_the_Pyro]

"Excuse me, but I met you two days ago. Formalities are still acceptable...Miss Karen." Aeris said, all the while lecturing herself about narrowing gaps and becoming close to people.

Han snickered to himself, wondering why humans were such idiots.  

[Semu Namu]

Rustboro. Not her favorite city, but it would do. Sena looked down to Arky who was panting in exhaustion. "We better find a pokemon center, huh boy?" She patted him on the head as they continued thier trek into the city. At least it would have some good restaurants, hopefully her favorite italian one was still open. She was pretty sick of all the weird people in the forests. "There will be normal people here, don't you think Arky?" He barked in hope to her as they approached the center.  

[Michiru Tendo]

The smile slowly faded from Karen's face as her look actually began to become serious. "And I personally asked you, Aeris, to drop the 'miss'. It isn't too difficult to drop one word from your speech, right? It would be much more pleasant to be around you if you weren't so formal with me."  

[Fade_the_Pyro]

Aeris scowled at her. "Fine. But in reality I'm not a pleasant person to be around, anyway. " She continued along the corrider with a frown of self disgust, as usual.  

[SephiLyn]

Lyn walked into Rustboro, feeling triumphant. She caught a pokemon, for real. Not just some dumb luck, she actually earned this one, or rather Tiger earned it for her. Her puppy companion walked alongside her, he was happy that he'd finally have someone to share his pain. He wasn't aware that Egg already felt that pain. Even the shell wasn't enough to stop Lyn's voice from entering it and annoying poor little Egg. From the pre-battle engagedment, Mr. Worm had a feeling that this was going to be very unpleasant. Lyn didn't think so, she was enjoying her pokemon experience. She just had one problem: she needed a pokedex. The only people who had such devices had visited Professor Redwood, but Lyn's parents didn't allow her to go to Littleroot to get one. Maybe, if she was lucky, Professor Redwood would visit Rustboro and she could get one. But that's foolish, Lyn thought. Professors don't travel, especially not Professor Redwood. Not unless the Elite Four ask them too. I'll just have to go back there I guess...but that would mean going through Petalburg. Lyn and Tiger were closing in on the Pokemon Center.  

[Michiru Tendo]

The smile returned as Aeris passed by her. "I guess reality must be tricking me, then. You're pleasant enough for me now that you've dropped the formalities." Karen spun on her heels and walked with Aeris down to the main lobby of the Center.

Aeris didn't respond, finding herself in an obnoxious and grumpy mood. How was she supposed to keep herself distanced from Karen this way?

There are other way. Don't tell any secrets, don't show her anything beyond the necessary. That's a good way to maintain distance.

Aeris nodded at him, but secretly blanched. That wasn't what she wanted at all. She wished she could be friends with Karen, she really did. But she couldn't. She just couldn't.  

[Michiru Tendo]

Karen happily skipped down the hallway and began to descend the stairs. Her mind wandered off, suddenly, to think about why Aeris would say she wasn't very pleasant to be around. She seemed nice enough to Karen. While she was lost in thought, the red head tripped on one of the stairs, only to land on Cosette's back who had stopped to catch the clumsy girl. "Thank you, Cosette, you're always watching out for me!" Karen smiled and gave the Ponyta a big hug.  

[Its-a-Lyn]

Professor Cute came upon the city. The little pokemon was exhausted, he could barely keep walking. He was scratched up and dirty with tear stains down his cheeks. He moved toward the pokemon center. When he reached it, he collapsed in front of it. "Huh? What's that out there?" Nurse Joy got up from her seat and walked to the door. She opened it to see the little Cleffa. "Oh my- We've got an severely injured pokemon! Chanseys, let's help it right away!" Her Chansey squad came swarming out of the back where they tended to the hurt pokemon. They put the Cleffa on a small stretcher and wheeled it to the back.  

[Fade_the_Pyro]

Aeris couldn't help but chuckle at Karen's fall. "Do watch where you're going, ne?" She said, patting Karen on the cheek as she strolled by with Han above her head, cackling good naturedly.

Karen turned scarlet as Aeris patted her on the cheek and laughed at her. Why did she have to be so clumsy, it was so embarrassing sometimes! Though, usually she wasn't bothered by others observing her clumsiness, but to have this girl see her stumble around and trip so often, and even watch her as she freaked out in the dark before, was so... terrible. It was humiliating, and Karen couldn't even describe why. She carefully slid off the back of her Ponyta and continued down the stairs with an embarrassed laugh.

Lyn and Growlithe made it to the Pokemon Center. Lyn held the door open for Tiger and then entered herself. "Hey, where's nurse Joy?" Lyn wondered as she scanned the building for the pink haired lady.  

[Fade_the_Pyro]

Aeris noticed that the pokemon center was lacking the pink haired nurse that usually resided at the counter the moment she stepped off the stairs. She always wondered about those Nurse Joy's. How do they all look the same, with the same name? Were they robots? Clones? Pokemon? She just didn't know.

Aeris looked back to locate her new traveling comanion and noticed her blush.

"Why are you blushing?" She couldn't help but ask.
