Fenyx walked down the stairs. "Does anyone know where Ultima, or, as I have heard his new name is, Hayabusa, is? I want to see if he is up for a spar."

Tyler shook his head, chuckling as he sat down to await Max's return. "And now I'll have this in my mind whenever anyone says that outdated phrase..." He was a bit thrown off, sure, but some of his past hallucinations would have put this to shame.
Never thought being crazy would actually help me adjust...
So, what's the news? Sosol asked, allowing Gabriel's distraction to get attention away from them.
The thieves raided his computer...took the memory file he used to make my Morpheus Trance program. She responded bitterly, pushing the soda away in a request for something stronger.
They have your memories...? Az, that's not good.
We discussed that. He's reluctant, but he'll bring us in on the investigation.

"No," said the parasite grinning, "she just calls me that because Gabriel is the left hand of god. Which is nothing but shameless flattery towards D."
"It's blasphemy," murmured D and Angeles came back out of the kitchen with a glass of blood and walked over and tapped D's shoulder.
"You're in my seat," she said calmly. D glanced up at her and Angeles grinned. Her eyes then turned red and she turned to glower at Fenyx, her grip on her glass tightening before she set the glass down and took a step towards him.
D snatched her wrist and held her in place but Angeles did not glance at him, "he's not here," she said to the mage, her hands balling into fists.

D shook his head and pulled Angeles effortlessly into the chair across from him, "stay there," he ordered calmly and Angeles' crimson eyes turned to him but she obeyed. there was no room for arguing with D.

Zulma opened her eyes slightly. She was awake. She just looked at Baldur next to her with a soft smile.
Then she slowly raised, not wanting to wake him up.
She was starving and without a noise, she left the room and headed downstairs.
She was a little surprised to see Angeles in the main room.
With a wave and a smile, she greeted everyone.
"Evening people..."
She disappeared in the kitchen for but a second and came back with an apple and a glass of water.

Baldur woke and looked around as Zulma was gone. he looked around then slipped from the bed and walked downstairs. A slight bit of panic before he caught her in the kitchen and sighed in relief. Angeles gave a small wave to the woman, the look of defeat still in her eyes as she sat across from D.

Zulma smiled as she saw Baldur..but her smile faded as the expression on his face, he was worried...yet he seemed relieved at her sight. She understood and walked to him. "Sorry I did not want to wake you up." she said with a tiny kiss on his lips.
The innkeeper had noticed that Angeles had waved at her and strangely the fact brought some peace and almost joy to her heart.
"Does anyone what anything to eat or drink?" she asked as she put her glass and apple on the counter.

Baldur smiled at the kiss then followed Zulma outside, putting on an air of distance and cold. D and Angeles shook their heads at Zulma's offer when suddenly Emily ran up and scrambled into the chair and took a slice of apple then looked at Zulma.

Zulma looked at Emily with surprised.
"So you like apple Emily?" she asked softly crouching to be at the level of the child.
The innkeeper remembered that the little girl was shy and was ready for her to run away or start crying.

Emily's eyes brightened behind her new glasses and nodded at Zulma's inquiry, "yup!" she said and began munching on the slice.

The blond hair woman was happy to see the change in the child's attitude. Without a warning she scooped her up and sat her on one of the bar chair.
"Here you go, now you can eat more apple..." she said with a smile as she slid the plate with the apple slices in front of Emily.
Then the innkeeper disappeared in the kitchen before coming back with a second plate and apple and a knife.
"This one will be for me." she explained to Emily with a chuckle before sitting next to the girl and starting preparing her apple.

"Yay!" Emily smiled and clapped her hands and began to eat the other slices before glancing at Angeles. The look that fell in the child's eyes caused Angeles to grasp at her chest and inhaled a sharp breath of air through her teeth. D was immediately in action, standing from his seat and removing Angeles from hers before making her head up the stairs to her room.
He returned later and Emily was eating her apple quietly, "mommy still doesn't like me," she murmured to her slice of apple and D shook his head.
"It's not that," he said in a calm voice and Emily looked up at him, "she still loves you, she's just not feeling well," that was the best way he could explain what was happening to the child and moved to sit in the chair again.

Zulma's move had stopped when she had heard the gasp behind her. She had turned to see Angeles in pain and in a reflex had found herself on her feet, ready to help her friend. But before she could do anything, D had brought Angeles back to her room.
Puzzled, Zulma sat back. She started eating her apple in silence.
The exchange between the child and the vampire pained her. She did not understand what was going on. For a moment she looked at Baldur with lost eyes.
Zulma was not hungry anymore. She put the rest of her apple on Emily's plate. "I think I am old and tired." she joked brushing the child's hair before walking back to her room.

D looked up at Zulma and watched her leave as Emily looked at the apple that Zulma put before her. D was curious about her, but his expression never changed; anyone who Angeles feared was interesting.
Baldur stood and followed Zulma up the stairs wordlessly, not letting her get too far ahead and he slipped into the room behind her and shut the door.
