Well now, I've just learned that I made the ASVAB my b***h. I scored a whopping 97 on it - guess I AM going to the military. Can get whatever I want and just have to serve my country, right? Nothing better to do.

Yeah, depending on which branch and component you enter, the benefits vary. But you can't beat the insurance! And with a score like that, recruiters will be begging for you. Trust me. I got a 92. Anything above a 90 is considered very high.

Can't beat the benefits with any of them, really. And I know about the scores. I still can't believe that I scored that high. I thought at most I'd get was a 70 because I really messed up bad on the electronics and shop sections. I amaze myself. >_>

We should totally work together.

I'm back! biggrin I've been a little socialite over the break! blaugh Green, Alvinette, and I had been hanging out an shopping together. It was fun while it lasted, but I'm kind of sad now. It's more fun hanging out with my Gaia friends irl, than having to wait on new posts. xp Also, Green drove 7 hours to meet us (I drove 4 hours), so she's staying with her grandmother for a few days (I stayed at Alvinette's house). Anyway, Green won't have access to the internet until Friday or Saturday or something like that. She wasn't really sure.

On a different topic, we're supposed to get 2 inches of snow tomorrow after getting freezing rain in the morning, and then it's supposed to stay below freezing for a few days. Keep in mind that I live in Alabama, and that we don't have any equipment to deal with icy roads and junk. I just hope our power doesn't go out. It's cold out there! @_@

My best advice is to figure out what kind of things you enjoy doing. Chances are, one of the branches will have a job for it. Yes, if you like playing with robots and RC devices, they have a job group for that. And if you have any questions, feel free to ask. I'll probably tell you the things the recruiter won't.

By the way, some of those sections are only to test your apptitude in that area. They don't always affect your score.

The problem isn't the snow. If it were just snow, I would be out celebrating. The problem is the ice. It's supposed to remain below freezing for a couple of days, so all of the water on the road will turn to ice. But you're right about the panic. My brother and I went to Wal-Mart last night to stock up just in case. The cereal aisle was picked over, there were only about 10 small potatoes left, there wasn't any chili seasoning left, the canned goods and the dry goods were picked over. There were empty refrigerators where there used to be milk. The cheese also almost completely disappeared. There wasn't any hamburger meat left. And the liquour aisle had been hit up. But then again, this is about par for any similar winter threat in Alabama. Unsurprisingly, the schools were closed. Those icy roads are dangerous!

People act like that when we're predicting big storms, but I've only ever lived through one potentially life threatening weather event. I was apparently, born in a blizzard though!

We'll even a little snow and ice shuts everything down in Alabama because we don't have any way to cope with it. Even a bit of snow and ice bursts numerous pipes, knocks out the power, and causes numerous traffic accidents. I understand that in the north power lines are buried or something. We also don't have salt trucks or chains for tires. That means that we're all kind of stuck. sad We normally don't have weather where the high is below freezing, or if we do, it is only for one day. Since the high will be below freezing for multiple days, that extends the amount of time that we can't use the roads because of ice. So, as far as the run on the grocery stores is concerned, everyone was trying to make sure that they had enough supplies to tough it out until we can travel again. It really makes sense if you think about it.

Most people around here don't have chains on their tires either or underground power lines. You just need to be more cautious driving.


Strange about the pipes and the power lines though. You'd think they'd be at least made out of the same material. confused
