Max looked into Sosol's eyes...well, as best she could, given the sunglasses. "...ya think that's why? Ha...he needed information, the kind I'm good at findin'. We got attacked, and he dragged me here 'cuz it was safe. Nothin' more to it."
"He could have left you there."
"He's not like that."
"Because he cares."
Max grumbled under her breath, something sounding like "stupid psychic logic..."

Gren walked in, looking flat but far calmer. Looking about, finding nothing of his lover, he sighed regretfully and sat at the bar.

"Vamp wouldn't shut up," Max added in her usual blunt manner. "Ty and detective chick went out, too..."

Gren nodded. " 'Course she wouldn't...thanks." Naturally, she'd have kept lipping off. Why didn't he stay? Why'd he just walk away, when he looked so sad? "What'd she say, to get him rattled?"
Remy puttered over to Max. "Um, I'm sorry I didn't ask before, in all of the excitement...last night was pretty harrowing. Are you okay?"

Sosol shook his head. "I wasn't really paying attention to the content of her words...more the purpose behind them. Sorry I'm not much help...Az was paying more attention, but she's out with Stella, talking about our latest lead in our two cases."
Max looked over to Remy, her mood lifting somewhat, but not entirely. "It's not the first time I've been at gunpoint...though being surrounded, and staring down Lady Macbeth like that..." She shivered, her eyes losing focus for a moment.

Gren shook his head. "Doesn't matter, really..." he sighed. "I shouldn't have just run off like that."
Remy patted her shoulder gently. "It must've been scary...that lady's got a presence like an iceberg. But, but you got out okay...and you got the information on who she is. That's just amazing!"

An estranged silence fell between Angeles and D. The room darkened with night and neither bothered to turn on the light. After several hours the door opened and closed.
"Gren's back," she murmured to herself and D made no noise.
Several more minutes passed until D asked, "is it wrong to love a human?"
Angeles glanced up from the conspicuous spot of floor she had been staring at, "you're eighty-thousand years old, you tell me."
D shook his head slightly, "eighteen."
"Does it matter?"
They both fell silent again before D said firmly, "you should apologize, but I know you won't. What will you do now?"
"When this is over," responded Angeles, "I follow you out the door."
"And Remy?"
Angeles paused, "he'll be better off."

Gren nodded, smiling faintly. What was this...guilt, resentment, annoyance? The walk had calmed him, but not soothed everything..." 'Bout time she got some...may I have a fifth of scotch? Or, should I get it myself? Don't want to bother you."
Remy nodded kindly. "So that's why you came...you really put yourself on the line, there."

"Guess I did, huh?" Max said, giggling as her cheeks reddened slightly. "I didn't really think of that at the time..."
Sosol frowned at Gren but flicked open a cabinet and brought out a full bottle, bringing it to rest in front of the musician. "Don't spend it all in one place..."

Gren smiled crookedly. "Only a fifth, Sol...I don't try to drown my sorrows." he said, counting the shot as it poured into the tumbler. 'Probably should keep my opinions to myself...god, I hate yelling.'
Remy nodded. "Well, you did...and if I weren't, well...a vampire, that would've been really messy. You did really well! I've never been at gunpoint before."

Gren glanced over after a sip of the scotch. "That was a thought, Sol..." he said calmly. Perhaps he'd been thinking too loudly?
Remy nodded. "Well, they didn't have anything that could kill me, really...there's a good dose of confidence in knowing you're the baddest thing in the room."
