Alex looked over at the bird then Emily, just about to finish the final wall. No one else was around, and the silence allowed her to think straight, though her mind went on many different tangents at once. One was on Emily, the other the redhead, the third was her book, the fourth was this place. She thought of all these at once, her bored expression becoming almost vacant, her body now moving on autopilot.

Gren smiled, making a mental list of the things to come, their quiet discussion running a while before MacPere had retired for a nap. 'Being fabulous must take a lot out of someone...' he thought, writing down ideas.
Remy wandered in, looking pleased with himself. He'd brought a gift for Emily, one in a flowery bag.

Stella looked down at her design, giving a yawn. She had sat there for hours, sketching and doodling and revising, but it was nearing completion, a sigil simple enough to be etched as a tattoo but carrying enough meaning to be its own permanent magical work.
She glanced up at Remy, offering a tired wave.

((Paper deadline got moved up a week, I'm running a bit behind schedule, and that convention is looming and putting a deadline on my storyline...it's a little stressful here.))
"I think I've just been sitting too long," Stella answered with a grin before looking down at the picture. "Eli, Gren, and I were discussing piercings and tattoos...they seem to think a small one for myself would be a good idea, so I just started sketching what it would be..."

The magician nodded, folding the paper and sliding it under her armband with the two sticks. Her gaze fell momentarily to the ornate mask that still sat in front of her, a smile creeping across her face at the performance from earlier.
"I know what I'm doing here is right..." She said out of nowhere. "As soon as Azana and Sosol return, I'm sending them on vacation. They need some time for each other, and to start planning for their future..."

Remy raised an eyebrow. "It'll be good for them..." he said, dropping his voice, "But don't forget...there are other futures too, like yours."
Tapping his chin with a pen thoughtfully, Gren smiled scribbling something down and circling it. It seemed like a great idea.

Stella looked up at Remy, a faint hint of bitterness to her eyes. "Mostly the second, but what else would there be? My prospects are running pretty thin, and with all the time I'm spending keeping the GMO afloat and running smoothly...I just feel like I'm going to be one of those old spinsters."
She glanced over to the empty bar, sorely tempted but thinking better of it. "The truth is, I do feel like I'm a bit trapped...and while I'm getting better at what I do, it seems to be setting me on this course..."
