(*nods* I feel your pain, trust me. I'm just a speedy poster.)
Gren smiled happily. Whatever the problem was, at least this could help.
After a few moments, footsteps could be heard thumping up to the door, and Remy opened it, paint smudged on his arms. He smiled. "Hello!"

After a sigh of relaxation, MacPere shook out his shoulders. Much better...

Finishing, Gren kissed the crown of his head. "Thanks for yesterday, dear...I imagine it was a pain."

Wrinkling his brow in confusion, MacPere shook his head. "Wh-What? No... It's a part of the wondrous package that is you. Never apologise for that..."

Gren smiled sadly. "Still, that's not something that I wanted you to have to deal with. You're too sweet for that."
Matilda sipped her tea, questioning her son in a look. He gulped. "Ah, it's nothing...how about some more tea? Haven't had that in a while."

"Go on then... Just a cup." He smiled and strolled to his mother-in-law's table, sitting opposite her with a smile. "Don't mind if I sit here, do you?"

He nodded, strolling off, considering a nice oolong.
"Not at all, Eliwood." she smiled gently."Something on your mind?"

MacPere stroked at his stubble with a troubled frown, waiting a moment before speaking in a hushed tone. "Last night... Grencia was a wreck. He spoke of flashbacks... Of both the war and prison. I even had to stabilise him during the night after he'd pushed me out of bed..."
He shook his head, looking to the tables markings. "All of this could have been avoided if I were here and I was absolutely useless at comfort..."

Matilda blinked, brow wrinkling. "Oh my...what set him off, I wonder?"

"A bounty hunter was here, they had a shoot-out, I..." He heaved another sigh, propping his elbows on the table and weaving his fingers into his hair. "I'm so sorry... I should have been here when he was in danger..."

"Oh, I see...apparently an uninformed one, no doubt." she sighed, finishing her cup. "But why are you apologizing? Nobody's blaming you...it wasn't as if anyone could have known, dear."

"I know but..." He sighed and rubbed at his eyes. "He was shaking when I hugged him. I didn't know what to do or say so I asked him to recall the event and... I'm so pathetic..."

Matilda reached across the table and patted her son-in-law's shoulder. "Frankly, I wouldn't know what to do or say either...It's a frightening thing for everyone when that happens...and nobody's prepared the first time. But I think, if he's as mellow as he is today, that you did a good job...myself, I'm not sure I could've handled it better."

"Hah, you're his mother. Everything you could do would be better than my efforts..." He looked up, smiling weakly. "Any tips?"

Matilda shrugged. "Panic attacks aren't the same as childhood hysterics, but whenever he was fussing about something that he needed to sort out, I'd have him wash his face, give him something to drink and hand him the cat. It works, because it gives him something to do as a distraction. Calms a person down, you know?"
She thought for a moment a bit troubled. "For this, I'm not sure what would help...giving him something to hold might help. He'll fiddle with it."
