"No big, man...trust me, I know what it's like," he answered, setting down the port-a-lab with a grin. "People like us aren't really made for the whole fugitive lifestyle...well, unless you count Hunter."

"I heard that," Tyler said, glaring at James as he returned. "The beacon's ready to go. Coming with, Azana?"

"Yeah," she answered, giving the professor a small hug in return. He seemed the affectionate sort, and it looked like he needed the contact. "James and Sol will make sure you're alright. I'm going to meet your old pals..."

Sosol felt relieved as D put away his weapon, but he knew that the dhampir wouldn't give up that easily. There had to be some way to stall him further...

Tyler put in the coordinates for the Barton Cliffs and waited for Azana to enter the range before activating the device. In a flash of light, the two of them had vanished.

"Don't--!" Albert called after Azana, panicking slightly as they popped into nothingness. "This is all my fault... They could die... This is my fault..." He curled up in the chair, drawing his legs in, clutching the case to his chest. Even if the kind woman had said the man was a friend, he wasn't going to release her just yet.

Alex watched calmly as D turned to Emily and hoisted her up into his arms. He seemed to have a sort of soft spot for young children, and Alex was going to dance on that spot for as long as she could. She made a motion to have Sosol position himslef near the stairs, just in case D tried to make a break out the window.

Emily crawled up onto D's shoulders and lifted her arms into the air exclaiming, "yay! Uncle D's a pony!" the left hand burst out into laughter.

"She will need to sleep eventually," said D calmly, catching onto what was going on.

"I'll think of something else then. I've got quite a few tricks up my sleeve."

"You will need to sleep eventually."

"I'll just pretend my editor's breathing down my neck, I won't sleep for a week. Now, you will also need to sleep eventually," Alex put the cigarette between her lips.

"I can last," was D's soft response.

"Then what a fun-filled week this is going to be."

"What can you tell me about them?" James asked, remembering the visor link with Azana. He only had to hope she had it on her. Of course, there was always Tyler. "Any information you have could help this run a lot more smoothly..."

Sosol nodded, staying near the stairs even though his usual station was across the room. That wouldn't stop him from doing his job, though.

D moved around the room once with Emily cheering on his shoulders before pulling her off and setting her in his lap as he sat back in his seat. The parasite was still laughing.

Alex ignored Fenyx, finding a similar ground with Angeles when it came to the infantile mage, and looked over at the man and his box. He said the weapon like music and roses. She didn't have any roses at the moment but perhaps she could calm the man down as well as entertain the poor thing that was in the box. She closed her eyes briefly to think of an appropriate song before opening them and her lips parted slightly. For once her voice did not come out flat, and instead rang crystal clear like flowing water as she began the song. The words were in Japanese, and if anyone could translate would find it to be a very depressing song. But the melody was calm and serene, and she hoped it worked.

James narrowed his eyes at the description. This wasn't an ordinary group, that was for sure...though the two they had sent were probably the best bet in dealing with them. He knew that Sosol would want to join them, but it seemed he had his own problems to attend to.

"It looks like our reunion's coming a bit too soon," he said, thinking of when he and Tyler worked with Chris...and of course, adding Max to the mix had to happen, or she'd throw a fit for being left out. "Well...you've got the equivalent of a small army on your side now. We won't let you down."

Sosol heard the description, and James was right. He did want to abandon the stall tactics and go with Tyler and Azana...unfortunately, all he had was the cloak card. Even if he left, it would take time to get there, time they probably wouldn't have.

If only Stella could see you at work, he thought, you wouldn't need exams...

"The blue lights watching... Ugh, and to know they think their acts are good..." Albert looked up, blowing at a blond strand dangling before his face. He frowned as it merely twitched and remained in position, latched onto his eyelashes.
