"I see..." he said, squeezing firmly, uncaring about the blood. "I was worried sick...I-it's not like it's the worst thing I've ever seen happen to you but still, man..." He sighed and gave another squeeze. "That was scary."

Squeezing his eyes shut tightly, he held on and said nothing more for a moment. That explained, he wasn't mad, so much as perplexed by the social contexts the professor seemed to live under. With a bracing sigh, he muttered that a pizza might be in order.

Smiling, relaxing somewhat, he said "Mushrooms, and any kind of meat."

He eyed he ripped torso, tracing over where they knife had stabbed in, not a trace of harm left. "Wow."

Gren smiled gently. "I'd better go thank him...he's an odd one, but this stuff is amazing. Looked like I hurt his feelings."

Gren nodded. "Then I'll make amends." He pecked macPere's cheek and picked up the remaining solution, heading upstairs to find the scientist's room.

(Because they're polite and indoors. I'm heading off to the vet's for flea medication for the cats...I won't be on when you get back, I don't think. Have a lovely night, dearest. heart )

"I'm gonna kill 'im."
"He was trying to help," Sosol said, having been surprisingly calm through the whole ordeal. Of course, seeing his intention in advance did help with that.
"He stabbed him, Sol. In front of Gren. In front of Emily. I don't care if it was to show it off...he didn't have to go that far!"

"He's used to it," Tyler said, surprising the two of them as he leaned against the wall. "Think about it...those guys had no qualms about using human subjects. How long do you think the Professor has been there? Months? Years, maybe? Working on things like this...besides, he was sure it would work. More sure than I've ever been about, well, anything."

"Desensitization is no excuse," she growled. "There were plenty of better ways...the guy's nuttier than you are."

"Oh, gee...thanks for the vote of confidence," he answered, shaking his head as he left the two in their room. Well, gotta work on mission two...they really know how to keep a man busy around here.

"I've been thinking...maybe we would be better off sticking James with our professor." Sol sat on the side of the bed, patting for the pacing Azana to sit with him. "Albert needs a kindred mind, one that will remind him of some of the restrictions of reality. And, as an added bonus, it keeps him out of the lion's den."

"And when did you have time to think about this?" Azana asked, tilting her head curiously. It didn't entirely take her mind off what happened, but if it could prevent another such incident, she'd gladly go for it.

"Actually...when the whole issue became apparent. I somehow knew what he had in mind, so during the panic..."

Azana sighed heavily, sitting down next to him and resting her head on his shoulder. "Seeing the good in someone and keeping a level head...you're amazing."

"I have my days."

Whistling to himself as though nothing had happened, MacPere sauntered downstairs, picked up his work materials and departed for the GMO with a cheery farewell.

Chris walked downstairs, still deep in thought, and took a seat at his usual table. It took a moment for him to realize that someone else was already seated there. He looked up to see Cameron nonchalantly reading the paper. He glared at the man and begrudgingly located to a table on the other side of the room. While the neutrality edict kept his foe from acting against him, it also served to keep him from confronting his opponent. Cameron was shrewd enough to use that to his advantage. As long as he remained in the Inn, Chris couldn't touch him. Then again, as long as Chris was in the Inn, Cameron was also unable to act. Once again, the foes had reached a stalemate. Either one could leave and be free to make his move, but to do so would free the other to act as well. Better for both to remain here where they could keep one another in check.
