Sloppy Joes. Those disgusting things were something school should never give out to their students, it was down right wrong. The simple thought of that mush between two soppy buns nearly made Sofia puke. She shook her head and mumbled, "Alright well when you come home I'll be sure to make one of your favorite meals." Sofia certainly would be one of those women a man would be lucky to be married with, cooking well, cleaning without nagging and working as well. In other words she was a good catch despite the fact that she didn't see it that way and she felt that she would grow to be an old cat woman but happy. "See later later," she said, her final words before hanging up and simply sitting there setting the phone down on the coffee table. She sighed heavily and shut her eyes figuring she could rest there for awhile. Perhaps if she saw more of Alex's good side she would actually fall for him. To think, falling in love with her own husband. What a funny thought.

As soon as Sofia had hung up the phone, Debra appeared from the kitchen and said, "If you're ready to eat, I've got a big pot of chicken noodle soup ready to be eaten. I know that it's a stereotype to give chicken noodle soup to someone who's sick, but it's a quick and easy meal, and it's nutritious too. Probably a lot better than whatever it is that the school's cafeteria is serving. By the way, what did the hubby want? He told me that he wanted to check on you, but that sounded a bit weird for him."

Sofia nodded and stood up, heading to the kitchen to eat some soup, that was something she could probably stomach right now. She smiled and sat down and shrugged, "He just wanted to know how I was feeling...I suppose he was concerned but that's a little hard to believe. Other than that he had no other reason and he also said he'd stay but with his injury and all he'd be little help. It was odd...think he's up to something?" She asked as she looked at Debra and tried searching for an answer though Debra wouldn't know either.

"It's possible that he is, but I can't think of what that something might be," Debra admitted, "Maybe he's buttering you up so that he can ask you do to something for him later on. Won't know that for sure until he decides to spring his request on you. Perhaps he is being nice to you to hide the fact that he is stepping out on you, but that's probably unlikely. In the first place, he wouldn't be able to do anything during school, while after school he has football practice, and he knows that you can easily check up on him to make sure he was there. In the second place, his injury will probably earn him the sympathy of most of the girls in the school, but I don't think that any of those girls will be sympathetic enough to see him on the sly, especially since that girl will end up driving his dumb a** around. That'll put a damper on any illicit relationship. Now that I think about it, I really doubt that Alex is doing something like that, so just forget that I mentioned it."

When the bowl of soup was sitting there, Sofia smelled it and smiled. She grabbed a spoon full and blew on it a bit before eating some, and it certainly was delicious. She looked at Debra and nodded, "Yeah I suppose you're right, I guess I'll just have to wait and see. And this soup is amazing." Eating a bit more for a while, the kitchen was filled in silence. After a couple minutes she looked over at Debra again and added, "Honestly, if he managed make me fall in love with him things might be a lot easier you know." Chuckling lightly she then remembered how his mother suggested grand children.

Blushing lightly she figured she'd let Debra in on it, "You know Alex's mother wants grand children. His parents came two days ago and she was hinting at it and what not."

Debra nodded in understanding and said, "That's not surprising. I don't think there's even one loving mother in the world who doesn't look forward to becoming a grandmother. One reason is because it's easier to be a grandmother than a mother. All of the fun with none of the responsibility. Just spoil the little tykes rotten and send them home to Mama. You know, I saw a bumper sticker that read, 'If I had known that grandchildren were so wonderful, I would have had them first'." Debra paused to chuckle at that notion, which was essentially impossible. Knowing that curiosity will drive her crazy until she asked the question that had just come to mind, Debra then hesitantly inquired, "So... how do you feel about having children?"

Sofia chuckled as well when she mentioned the dumpster and what not but she sat there for a moment thinking about what she had just asked. "Well to be honest, I would love to have children but just not now though even if I wound up having one I wouldn't mind, I'd be happy. I would actually treat my child as my child and be a mother." She smiled softly and glanced down. There was no need for her to mention how she felt like she never really had a mother. Her nanny was like a mother but not fully. Eating the rest of the soup she looked at Debra and simply smiled. "I'm feeling a bit better now, thank you for your help and for making this delicious soup."

"You're very welcome!" Debra said in return. She had come to a couple of conclusions, although she didn't see the need to bring them up. First, Sofia's decision to not have children at the present time was likely to have everything to do with Alex. While he was her husband, he had yet to prove that he was a loving husband, and that was reason enough for Sofia to distance herself as far as physical intimacy was concerned. It was possible that Sofia had another reason, but if she had, then she probably would have explained herself. Second, Sofia's remark about actually treating her child as her child was a strong indication that she had not received such affections from her mother. There was no doubt that while Debra's mother had been alive, she had loved Debra with all of her heart, and so there was no need for Debra to say that she will do the same if and when she had children, since that was how she had been brought up. Even more bothersome was Sofia's remark that she wouldn't mind having a child even if she wasn't ready. Was Sofia implying that her mother had minded having her? Of course Debra wasn't going to ask Sofia about it. It will be embarrassing if Debra was wrong, and even more so if she was right. "I'm glad that you're feeling better now," she went on to say, "Is there anything else that I can do for you today?" Debra had been planning to spend the entire day at Sofia's apartment, and now she was hoping that Sofia wouldn't decide to send Debra back to school.

Shaking her head she replied, "No, thank you for helping out and I'm feel far much better now. I suppose all you can really do is just hang around, not much to do and I doubt you want to go back to school." She chuckled lightly and looked at her friend seeing that she didn't want to head off to school by the look in her eyes. And so they would simply spend the rest of the afternoon together, watching movies and simply having a day of rest and hanging out like friends usually did. By the time it reached the time Alex would be coming home Sofia took Debra home and she stood about an hour telling her grandmother what had happened and why Debra had not been in school. She apologized for it and hoped that she would not punish Debra and it seemed that her grandmother ended up being okay with it.

Sofia waved goodbye to her friend and told her she'd pick her up for school tomorrow and finally headed off home. She managed to pull everything off without showing that she was still feeling a bit sick. She walked in, fed Bo before going over to the couch and laying there, her fever still lingering but no longer as high as before..a bit warm in fact. Slowly she fell asleep, the tv on and she had happened to to her pj's back on, nothing but a long T-shirt and she took her glasses off before falling asleep. She lay there curled up, the shirt rising but it still managed to cover up to her mid thighs.

When Alex had returned home from football practice, he was under the impression that Sofia was still sick in bed and that Debra was still in his apartment, and so he entered the apartment as quietly as he could so as to not wake up Sofia or irritate Debra as he had the previous night. Of course Debra was gone by then. Much to Alex's surprise, he found Sofia asleep on the couch instead of in her bed, although he did a double-take to make sure that she was Sofia. She was looking different than she usually did, and it appeared that she was wearing nothing but the long t-shirt, which was a notion that Alex found to be titillating. He couldn't remember a time when she had shown that much of her legs, and they were very nice legs too. If Sofia had looked like this when she and Alex had met for the first time, then there was a chance that Alex would have fallen for her on the spot. In fact, it was possible that he was falling for her now, but that kind of made things bass-ackward, didn't it? The way that it was supposed to go was that the handsome guy meets the pretty woman, they start dating, they fall in love, and then they get married. The husband wasn't suppose to fall in love with his wife after the marriage, was he? Of course Alex wasn't taking into consideration the fact that many arranged marriages turned out to be successful because in time the husband and wife grew to love and respect each other in ways that were deeper than the shallow physical attraction that came at the beginning of many relationships. The one thing that was on Alex's mind at the moment was that a sexy-looking chick was sleeping on his couch, and surprisingly enough, that chick happened to be Sofia. As it was, Alex didn't see anything wrong with standing there quietly and admiring the view for as long as he could.

It was a peaceful nap, one that helped her body relax more and the fever dying down a bit more. She felt a whole lot better and when Alex came in she was slowly starting to wake though she still appeared to be asleep on the couch. Her eyes were cracked ever so slightly so that it looked as if she were asleep but she could see Alex's legs there which indicated that he was home and standing in front of her. At the moment she was still in a sleep state so she didn't wake up shocked or surprised. Instead she opened her eyes and glanced at him before sitting up and rubbing her eyes almost as if she were dreaming. Finally waking up a bit more she looked at Alex and figured he barely got there, "Oh...didn't realize you got in....are you hungry?"

In that moment she stood up, but something went wrong for two reasons. One, she got up to fast and two, her foot was asleep since one leg had it's blood circulation cut off from the other leg on it. And so, Sofia couldn't help but fall forward. Two things could happen and that was either her falling on her face or Alex catching her though she hoped he would let her fall because with his bad leg and her suddenly whole weight falling over there was a chance she'd being him down with her and she certainly didn't want to hurt him more.

Things happened so fast that Alex didn't have any time to really think about what he was doing, and so he acted on instinct. His crutch was dropped to the side and he caught Sofia in his arms as she toppled towards him. On the down side, standing on just one leg had left him with a precarious balance which was thrown off by Sofia's weight, and so they both ended up falling to the floor. On the up side, Alex landed flat on his back, his stiff leg brace kept his leg from twisting, and Sofia landed on top of him, which meant that neither of them were hurt, aside from Alex getting the wind knocked out of him and his sore back. Also on the positive side was the fact that Alex found himself with Sofia on top of him and with his arms around her. As could be expected, his initial reaction was strictly hormonal in nature. Knowing that he was unlikely to get anywhere with Sofia, he pushed certain thoughts aside, and once he had caught his breath, he asked, "Are you OK?"

What was done was done though she would have been fine with landing on her face. But either way she ended up having a soft landing though the same could not be said for Alex. Despite the embarrassing position they had gotten into she pushed every other thought away and quickly got off of him. She was blushing lightly but other than she she showed nothing but concern for him. She nodded, "I'm fine...are you okay? I didn't hurt you did I? Is your leg okay? How's your back?" She went on to ask a couple more questions about his welling being as she stood up and helped him up as best she could before helping him sit on the couch. Still highly concerned she sat rather close to him looking at him directly in the eyes. There was no doubt she actually cared about him...she was stuck with him after all. And for the moment she forgot about personal space.

"I'm fine," Alex insisted in a typical display of machismo as Sofia helped him to the couch, "Didn't feel a thing. It would have hurt if I had been tackled by... say... a 250 lb. linebacker, but you landing on top of me was like being tackled by a pillow." While Alex was exaggerating, it wasn't by much. Nothing had happened to his injured leg, and he had gone through much worse on the football field. Alex might have kept on talking, except at the moment he was slowly losing himself in her beautiful eyes. At the moment Sofia looked so d**n adorable and loving that Alex couldn't stop himself from acting on instinct again. Without really thinking about what he was doing, Alex leaned closer to Sofia and kissed her on the lips.

She felt at more ease when he said he was okay though she hoped he wasn't saying it to make her feel better and what not. Either way nothing, NOTHING could have prepared her for what was about to happen next. Sofia had been lost in her own thoughts of how she could help ease his pain if he was in pain so she didn't notice him leaning toward her. It was until their lips made contact that she realized what just happened. Not only was this her first kiss but it so happened to be Alex kissing her, and honestly she never thought he would ever try since people and even himself have pointed out how unattractive she was...though of course not when she looked like the way she did now. Her face grew terribly red and her heart pounded against her chest threatening to pop out of her chest, her body stiff. So, the kiss lasted more than it probably should have but either way she finally moved her hands and placed them on his chest only to push him away. She looked away form him though her body was still close to his. Honestly she didn't know if she could get up right now with her body feeling a bit weak from the sudden kiss and her heart still pouncing. What could she say anyway?

After a moment she forced herself to get up and simply walked to the kitchen as if it didn't happen but that moment would haunt her for the rest of the day and it was no where near going to bed so she would be forced to linger on it more. She had several questions as to why he had kissed her. Nonetheless she began to cook dinner.
