If they had been in a movie, that first kiss would have been followed by a second kiss, and then another that was lingering and deeply passionate, which would lead to who knows what else. But this wasn't a movie, and Sophia was still Sophia, and so at the end of the kiss, she got up and went into the kitchen. That wasn't the thing that Alex had been hoping for, but at least she hadn't gone ballistic. As he reflected on the moment, it seemed to him that Sofia had enjoyed the kiss to a certain extent. Alex had enjoyed it, and was looking forward to kissing again should the opportunity present itself. They had finally shared their first real kiss as husband and wife, and to tell the truth, the moment had become special and personal to Alex. From the sound of things, Sofia was busy fixing supper for the both of them. In spite of what had happened, she was still doing the things that she felt were necessary. That got Alex to think about everything that she had done for him, especially after the accident. It could be said that those things were expected of her because she was his wife, but no one forced her to do any of it. Even when he had stated that he didn't need her help in the shower, she still helped. And what had he done in return? Very little, to tell the truth. In fact, the only things that he had really done over the last couple days were eat, sleep, watch TV, and break the faucet on the kitchen sink, and all that was while Sofia had been sick. Alex was forced to admit that he had been pretty useless. Of course he could blame his injury, but what was his excuse for the weeks before that? The fact that Sofia's friend Debra was more reliable than Alex wasn't helping his self-esteem any good. Deciding that he wanted to prove that he wasn't completely useless, if only to himself, Alex stood up, carefully made his way to the kitchen, and asked, "Is there anything that I can do to help?"

It didn't matter if Sofia was in a separate room, his actions now lingered in her mind and as she moved about the kitchen she fanned herself since she was still blushing and her heart was still pounding rather quickly in her chest. She wasn't sure if it was something she had been hoping for or hoping that it wouldn't happen because if it did happen there was a possibility she would let herself develop more feelings toward him. In that moment she stopped what she was doing and question in her mind, more? What did that mean? He had done little to show he was a good husband or guy in general but there were little moments he had that she could never over look, like the phone call today. It was beginning to confuse her and that kiss just sent her mind into chaos. She knew that the kiss wasn't one that a sexually frustrated male would give a girl and from there try to do more. It was as if it was the perfect moment to share a tender kiss but she had cowardly walked away but in her defense she was just not experience with any type of romance.

When he walked in, she made sure to keep her face hidden as her back was to him. It probably would have been better if she put on some clothes but it was a bit too late for that. Now standing her legs were rather nice and long, the type of legs most girls would love to have. For a moment she didn't answer him because she wasn't sure but hell, he was a guy and the things to fix the faucet were bought so if he could he could do that unless his leg stopped him from doing so. She cleared her throat and spoke, "The new parts for the faucet are under the sink...you can fix the faucet if you can..." Her face was a little less red as she glanced back at him. He had seen her as desirable before she looked far more desirable with the light blush on her face along with the air of innocence.

Needless to say, Alex was admiring Sofia's legs when she answered his question. Fortunately he had heard what she had said, and so he started across the kitchen as he replied, "Sure, I'll get right on it." Sofia's suggestion was perfect. As the man of the house, it was Alex's role to fix things, and so he took on the task without a moment of hesitation. First he found the things that he needed under the sink, and then he double-checked the water valves to make sure that the water was shut off. After that he proceeded to fix the faucet. It was a bit difficult to move around with his leg in a brace, but Alex wasn't going to let that stop him. He had wanted to be helpful, and he now had a manly way to do so. Since he was in a good mood, Alex actually whistled a merry tune as he worked. As soon as he had fixed the faucet, he carefully turned on the water to check his work, did some tightening to seal a very minor leak, and when he was satisfied with his work, he declared, "OK, the faucet is fixed." He was so proud of how well things had turned out that he seemed to have forgotten that he was the one responsible for the faucet being broken in the first place. Since he was on a roll, Alex then asked, "Anything else that needs to be fixed while I have the tools handy?"

As he busied away with fixing the faucet Sofia continued to make dinner which happened to be some stuffed chicken breast with seasoned vegetables and even some mashed potatoes, all homemade of course. Sofia was the kind to never use frozen stuff, it just didn't seem right. Of course the chicken was frozen but that was an exception after all. Once he had finished, she watched the chicken as it cooked, looking over at him to see that the faucet was indeed done. It was also nice to see that he had been enjoying himself fixing it despite it being his fault in the first place. Either this is how he really was or he was planning something...like this was all some sort of ploy to get her to sleep with him. But as she looked at him, their eyes locking it was rather hard to believe that he would go so far, especially with her, someone clearly not good enough for him, or so everyone liked to point out.

"Um, that's pretty much the only thing really...food's almost done so you can just wash your hands and sit down," She then looked away from him, her heart racing whenever she looked at him. Sofia grabbed the plates and put a good portion of everything on it, the chicken moist and tender the vegetables too delicious not to eat and the mash potatoes with no lumps, simple perfection. She placed the plate in front of him and gave him his fork before going to the refrigerator that happened to be behind him. It didn't occur to her that bending over was probably not a good idea but luckily her shirt wasn't that short. Nonetheless she did so and pulled out a pitcher of passion fruit juice she had asked Debra to make earlier before she left. She poured some into two glasses, placed on by his plate then finally sat down in front of him and began to eat.

Instead of going to the bathroom, Alex washed his hands there in the kitchen sink, using the dish soap in the place of hand soap. He then sat down to eat. Once again, Sofia had put together a delicious meal for them. Alex had always regarded his mother as one of the best cooks in the world, and at the rate things were going, it was very possible for Sofia to eclipse his mother in that regard. As could be expected, he had been watching Sofia as she had taken the juice from the refrigerator, although he had glanced away when she had returned to the table. It seemed to embarrass her when he paid that much attention to her. Alex found himself wishing that she had bent over just a little more, so that he could have confirmed his theory about what she was or was not wearing beneath the t-shirt. Once they had started to eat, Alex decided to pay her a compliment in a round-about way, and satisfy his curiosity at the same time, and so he said to her, "There is something that I'm wondering about. Why don't you look this good when you go to school? People probably won't think that you're a geek if you did."

Lost in her own thoughts while eating proved to ease her a bit more though there was still no denying what had happened between him and her and for a while it would seem that looking at him would make her heart skip a beat so she tried to avoid eye contact at the moment. Though when he gave her a compliment it was hard not to look up at him in surprise. "Huh?" She uttered out before glancing away a light blush on her face.

At last she replied to what he had said, "Th-there's no reason as to why I should look like this at school. I'm not there to please people or to have them gawk at me like idiots and besides I don't know what your talking about. I'm not all that good looking anyway. Everyone enjoys pointing out how unappealing I look anyway..." She sighed and continued to eat no longer wanting to even speak of this.

Alex wasn't picking up on the fact that Sofia didn't want to talk about that subject anymore, and so he said, "Well, maybe everyone wouldn't do that if you didn't go out of your way to... how shall I say it... unpretty yourself. And yes, you really are that good-looking, and you know that there's no reason for me to lie or kid you about it. Actually, the only reason why I might lie about it would be if I was trying to get lucky with you, and we both know that's not happening." According to Alex's line of reasoning, that should prove that he was serious when he said that she was that good-looking. Why should he lie if it wasn't doing him any good? After a brief pause, he added, "I suppose that I do understand why you wouldn't want to have everyone gawking at you. If you did look that good in school, at least half of the guys will be hitting on you like a hammer on a nail, and then I'd have to knock in a few heads."

For a moment she became embarrassed and shy but it just didn't seem right. Why was he acting this way all of a sudden and he went so far as to even kiss her. It was hard to believe what he was truly up to. She bit her bottom lip and sighed, putting her fork down and looking up at him keeping her composure. "Alright, this is just weird now and it's kinda freaking me out..." she stared at him and looked away for a moment.

Finally looking back at him she finished what she was starting to say, "After weeks of barely paying attention to me you now give me a compliment, showed that you cared when I was ill and you even went so far as to.....kiss me...What are you up to? Or what did you do?" Yes, there had to be a reason why he was doing this, he either did something bad that would make her angry or he was still trying to get her in bed.

"I'm not up to anything, and I haven't done anything wrong!" Alex insisted, "I kissed you because I felt like it! There's no conspiracy or cover-up. I kissed you because you're so d**n good-looking right now that it was only natural for me to kiss you, and maybe I did it because I like you a little more than you think. Not only that, but while it might have looked as if I wasn't paying attention to you, I have noticed everything that you do around here. Every day you go running around, cleaning the apartment, fixing dinner, and doing all of those things that a good wife is supposed to do. Yes, I have noticed what you do every day, especially after I was hurt. If I'm complimenting you, it's because you deserve it, not because I'm expecting something in return. Not only that, but I've had a lot of time to think about things since I was hurt, and maybe I've decided that it's time for me to do the things that I should be doing, instead of just sitting around and being so... useless."

Sofia sat up and stared at Alex almost shocked at his sudden explosion, explaining everything. Did he just really admit he liked her? Slowly her face grew a bit red from embarrassment before slowly looking down almost as if looking ashamed. Here she sat judging him, when she was the one who didn't like people judging her and others...in other words she was a hypocrite. How could she respond to what he said. God, what could she say after that?! The kitchen was silent for several minutes her food now untouched as she just sat there staring down at the table. Every now and then she would part her lips to speak but no words would come out. Her mind was blank.

After a couple more long horrible minutes, she glanced up at him, "Honestly I have no clue what to say to you right now..." And with that she stood up and walked out of the kitchen with no other word. Sofia simply walked to her room, the door wide open as she sat on the bed staring at the ceiling still trying to sort out things. So he admitted he liked her? She wasn't sure if she could admit that she felt the same...It was never suppose to come to this. He was suppose to not like her and she was suppose to not like him either...soon enough they would love one another...that wasn't suppose to happen...right?

It really wasn't the least bit surprising when Sofia got up and left abruptly. They had rarely talked before now, and so why should she have anything to say now? As for Alex, he was wondering if he had said too much. It wasn't like him to admit to such things as feeling useless, but he had just the same. It was true, though. For instance, just that afternoon at football practice he had been watching Nate running plays and throwing passes while he had been thinking that if not for his injury, he would be out there running plays and throwing passes. It was true that Alex was teaching Nate a lot of valuable things, but Alex wanted to play, not pretend to be a coach. And what would happen when he ran out of things to teach Nate? It wasn't in his nature to sit on the sideline and do nothing. The combination of wanting to do things that he couldn't for the time being and a greater awareness of everything that Sofia did for him only emphasized how little that he did on his own. Perhaps Alex could attempt to excuse himself by saying that his father was the same way, but honesty forced him to admit that his father couldn't be accused of sitting around while his mother did all of the work. Another excuse that Alex could mention was that marriage had come upon him before he was fully prepared. While that was true, it was also a pretty lame excuse. Sofia hadn't been any more prepared than Alex, and yet she seems to have taken on her proper role, for the most part, without that role being pointed out to her.

When Alex was finished eating, he was filled with the urge to disprove his own statement that he was useless. After thinking about it, he decided to wash the dishes. That was something that Sofia usually did, and he reasoned that he could stand long enough to complete the job on his own. Washing the dishes involved a lot of hopping around as he put away the leftover food and took the dishes to the kitchen sink, but he managed to do the job without breaking anything. After that, he made his way to the bedroom. Sofia was sitting on the bed and appeared to be deep in thought. After clearing his throat to get her attention, he said, "If you still need some rest, I'll just give myself a sponge bath like I did last night." It didn't occur to him until that moment that because he had brought up the subject of his nightly shower, Sofia will probably feel obligated to help him, and that it might have been best if he had just taken a sponge bath without bothering her about it.

Okay, just because he kissed her didn't mean she could avoid him forever and when he walked in talking about he would give himself another sponge bath...well she couldn't let that happen. He needed a good and nice shower and considering that deep down she cared and even liked him...well she wouldn't leave him in his time of need...for a shower that is. And so, Sofia stood up and shook her head, "I'm fine....I'll help you, no need to make you struggle..." She barely looked at him though, she still had a blush on her face and her heart would pound against her chest whenever she made eye contact with him. Nonetheless she walked into the bathroom with him and like the two other times she helped take his clothes off and helped him into the shower where she already had the water running so that he wouldn't get hit with freezing a** water. Nevertheless she got wet a little helping him in, her hair a bit damn and her left sleeve damp as well.

Sofia like usual sat on the side of the tub and just waited. "If you need any help just ask..." Now this was a moment to take advantage of. It would certainly mean that they would be a lot closer. Though there was no way she'd ever get naked and join him just to help him out...maybe wear a bathing suit but never nudity...though if they were in a sexual relationship like any couple...well that wouldn't be a problem.

Just as Alex had predicted, Sofia had insisted on helping him anyway. Not that he minded all that much, but it did help to inspire him to find ways that he could be more useful. Once he was in the relative privacy of the shower, he thought about the kiss that they had shared. That, of course, led him to think about where kissing might lead if handled in just the right way, and that had him feeling excited in little time at all. It was a good thing that the shower curtain was opaque because Sofia would have noticed the grin on his face and other things. Alex was taking his bottle of shampoo from the shower caddy when it slipped through his fingers. He swore as he tried to catch it, but it fell to the floor with a thump, and he barely managed to keep from slipping and falling to the floor by grabbing the shower nozzle. Fortunately it was strong enough to hold him without breaking. Once he had regained his balance, he hesitantly called out, "Ah... sweetie? I... ah... dropped my shampoo and I can't pick it up. Can you give me a hand with that?" Under the circumstances, he wouldn't be surprised if she accused him of doing it on purpose, and Alex really couldn't blame her if she did.

The thud was enough to make her understand what had happened though it was what he said that made her become more hesitant. She sighed softly and muttered, "sweetie?" The hell was that all about? Nonetheless she stood up and walked over to the shower. To avoid getting wet she reached in and turned the water off and considering how big the shower was he actually had to get in. Once inside she avoided looking at him and picked the bottle up. She held it out and waited for him to take it so she could get out. Though the thing about this shower was that it was a rather tricky thing at times. Anyway, aside from the shower head there was also one above on the ceiling...one of those fancy showers. Why her parents got this place...well perhaps it was another way of buying her off again.

Anyway, she happen to slip a bit and ended up pushing one of the buttons against the wall that activated the water and it poured down on both of them. It was cold as hell. She gasped and dropped the shampoo bottle from the sudden shock of the cold water. Also, she tried to get out only to end up slipping. Again this would end in two ways. Her on top of him again or her face planned on the shower floor. Either way this was going to end bath for her. This time landing on the floor would be better than landing on her naked husband.

((OOC: With curtains lol http://media.merchantcircle.com/30032863/big picture shower enclosure_full.jpeg and up to you on what happens next XD ))

Alex watched in amusement as Sofia turned off the water, stepped into the shower, and then picked up the shampoo as requested, all without looking at him even once. It was probably a good thing that she hadn't because the sight of him in all of his natural masculinity would probably send her fleeing to the bedroom while blushing furiously. Things were going fine until Sofia accidentally nudged one of the controls for the overhead shower. Alex had never seen the point for it, and so had never used it. He let out a yelp of alarm when freezing cold water came pouring from the ceiling, and he backed away from the cascade. It was right about then that he saw Sofia slip and start to fall. Like before he reached out to catch her, but this time he narrowly missed grabbing her, and she ended face-down on the floor. At the same time his right foot slipped, which led to Ales landing hard on his butt. After pausing to catch his breath, he called out to Sofia, "Are you OK? Did you break anything?"
