"Certainly, young man..." he said uneasily, in the face of the commotion. "What is it you'd like? I can get you whatever you desire...keh heh heh..."

Azana pulled her head out of her pillow to see the new text message, groaning at the thought of having to say more on the subject. Regardless, she rolled over, holding the phone up as she composed the response.
She's-- Her eyes stung with tears, ones she had to wipe away so she could type out those words she always dreaded. A few backspaces, a more subtle way of going about it: D is out of a job.
Max glanced up to Enta with a misty frown, shaking her head. She had no idea if, and how well, the catboy knew Angeles...

"O-Oh..." she murmured, gaze to the floor. It seemed that her luck was spreading to the inn... "I'm really, really sorry." Laura was at a loss of what else to say, feeling that anything else would be uncalled for. She simply offered a saddened smile and clopped back upstairs to her room, leaving those downstairs to mourn.

Felix took a step closer, giving the man another curious sniff. "I don't know. Suprise me." He rumbled as he took in the man's scent. He smelled a bit like old books and cinnamon as far as he could tell. It was a rather pleasant combination.
Enta slid into the seat next to Max, taking her hand in his and trying to offer some comfort. "It's okay..." he soothed.

Sosol grimaced as Laura returned upstairs, feeling guilty about burdening her with the information. Emily was starting to calm down, either that or crying herself to sleep, and Sosol stood, lifting her from the ground as he did so. There had to be something he could do for her, though the person with that power was upstairs. Azana and that special phone of hers...the one Gren fixed to reach across space and time.
I really hope you're using it, he thought, Emily's weight distributed between his mind and body as he kept her close.
Max never thought she'd see the day (well, outside of a convention) where she'd be flanked by a catboy and a vampire. It did little to improve the prevailing mood, though...
"I kind of feel bad now," she said quietly, "callin' her mopey all that time ago..."

"I-I know what it's like to loose people..." He murmured softly, stroking his thumb over the back of her hand. "It hurts for a while... Maybe a long while... But the wounds heal eventually..."

Rem huffed. "She was. And don't try to deny it..." He handled grief in a rather grim manner: silent, hateful acceptance.
'Do I need to come home, Azana?"
The man emptied his pockets, a few stray candies, a mystic-looking amulet, and a voodoo doll produced.

Leaving her door open, Laura seated herself on the floor of her room, pulling out her phone. It was an odd feeling to enter a room of such austerity... especially as she'd only just arrived.
"Damned luck..." she grumbled to herself, combing the hair over her shoulder with a hand.

Max grinned a little at Remy's comment, though she could tell that he was worse off, as far as grief. "I know..." That was all she could say for the time being, comforting and being comforted simultaneously. Life would move on, but her absence would be pronounced...
Azana gazed at the message with some hesitation. She wanted them to come home, Emily would want her Daddies...but they needed this escape, and she had no idea how much time they had actually spent on Mars. With space travel and the weird mechanics of that gate, they could have been gone mere hours or weeks on end without it showing any difference.
I don't know...but Emily might want Daddy and Daddy.
Emily had exhausted herself, and Sosol hummed quietly, carrying the sleeping girl upstairs. This wasn't going to get any easier, especially with the funeral already handled. D was efficient...ruthlessly so, but all the same.
Maybe I could get the others here to help out. I mean, if Stella's even thinking about kids someday, this could be good for her.
((Bus is almost in station...be back later!))

"*sigh* I'll ask. We only arrived today."
He sighed, hard. "I think I ought to have a drink."

"Me, too...though I doubt we'll be sharin'," Max said, standing and heading for the bar.
"Doesn't take a psychic to know what you're after," Sosol said, descending the stairs after putting the tired Emily to bed. "Name it...round's on the house."
Azana closed her eyes tightly, resting the back of her hand (and the phone) against her forehead. They had just gotten there...no, she couldn't make them fly all the way back after a few hours at home.
You know? We've got it covered. Spend some time with the folks.

"You sure? It'd take a few days, but I could see what could be done."
"Thank you...make it hard, whatever it is."

Felix crouched onto all fours and nosed through the odds and ends, unimpressed. He looked up at the man expectantly.

Marouse tilted his head. "No good, hm? Have you anything you ever wanted, real or fantasy?"
"One fish, two fish, I eat you, fish!" hummed Charlotte, moseying in with a bag of fried clams.
