Chris took a seat opposite from Azana. She looked hesitant, almost apologetic, as if she was about to tell someone about a death in the family. This can't be good, he thought to himself as he waited for her to gather her courage.

Enra seemed to have stopped crying from before, though he was still visibly holding a lot back. But he tried to enjoy the atmosphere as he could, sitting quietly with a sad smile on his face.

"Cheers! Let's get this night started right!" Max exclaimed, clinking the glass lightly before taking a sip.
After a long moment of thought, and a longing for one of Sosol's cocktails, she forced herself to speak. "Angeles...found out that someone was going to attack the Valentines," she began, working from what she had heard through the grapevine from D's explanation. "She and D went out to assist them...we thought they were just following a lead, investigating...not that they'd--" She closed her eyes, taking a breath or two to keep her voice from shaking.
"D came back...alone, bearing her Deathwhisper and the news..."

Chris listened carefully. She didn't even need to say it. He knew where his was going and he didn't like it. Only one thought occupied his mind as his fists slowly clenched. "Who did this to her?"

Giggling and cheered to the toast, Laura took a hearty gulp, wincing through the taste. It stung slightly... tickled the back of your throat, required a little coughing. The flavours however, once they punched through, were oddly delightful.
Blinking through the drink, Laura looked over to Enra, pouting slightly. She approached, holding a light smile, and held out her glass. "Could I get you one, Enra? I'm sorry if it's a little... distasteful. I'm no bar lady."

Azana shook her head. "I don't know, Chris...I didn't stay downstairs for the whole story...Remy would know better than me. I just--Sol always said her pride would be the end of her..."
Max tried to carry on a relatively loud conversation with Enra and Laura to keep from hearing all this again. Az probably would have a hard time dealing with telling the Innkeepers in person...especially since the GMO had been running babysitting duty during their little jaunt to Mars.

"Another Witch's Brew coming up then~" Laura cooed, placing her hand on Enra's for a moment. The best she think to do for his melancholy mood at the moment was try and distract. A drink with company always worked for her.
She trotted off to the bar, having deposited her drink on Enra's table for the time being, and poured out another drink, decorating it in the same fashion. "Here," she sidled back and slid the drink in front of him, giving a gentle smile. "Enjoy the spirit of Hallowe'en in a glass!"

He was angry and it showed. After all they had been through together, he wasn't there for her when she needed him. "I doubt her pride was the end of her, but rest assured my fury will be the end of whoever did this."

Enta fairly glided down the stairs in his costume, shimmering fabric rippling around him. "Orion should be here any minute." he announced. He noticed Enra's forlorn state and approached him. "You want to help me in the kitchen? I'm going to make some snacks." He offered as an attempt to get Enra's mind off of whatever was bothering him without having to pry.

When he felt her hand on his, he looked up at her...

"Enra... I want to do this."
"Jazz, you don't even know what you're asking for. The trials and horrors I've seen...
A hand on his hand.
"...So I will see them through with you."

Tears flowed again at the contact, which he quickly wiped away.
"Goodness... crying on Hallowe'en. I'm not much of a man, am I?"
He threw back the glass, gulping a fourth of the drink. He winced at the strength, like a high concentration of sugar from treats acquired over Halloween. But it slowly resided into a normal sweetness.
"Ah, Enta. Sure I'll help. Thank you so much for the drink Laura, I needed it."
He followed Enta into the kitchen, though he still hadn't quite changed.

"O-Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!" She exclaimed, only noticing the tears as she returned with the glass. "Don't say that... everyone has a reason to cry, and there is no designation of when they can do it. It makes you more of a man to admit that you cry now and again."
She was unsure of what to do next, whether to comfort him or let Enta take his mind from whatever was bothering him... she settled for both. Laura stood beside Enra and enclosed her arms around him, worried pout on her lips as she did so. "Maybe some snacks'll cheer you up... Enta's good at this." She allowed him off before darting her gaze to Max with a sad shrug. "Did I do something wrong?"

"...I'm with you, Chris," Azana said, trying to push her sadness into that bitter anger she felt before, both for Angeles and for the culprit, whoever that proved to be. "After Halloween, though...our hands are already full."
"It ain't your fault, Laura," Max said, watching the two walk off together. "He's thinkin' 'bout an old love...guess he hasn't gotten over 'er yet. Then again, people don't really ever get over each other entirely..."
Kristen walked in the door in her costume, ectoplasm rather that blood on the katana. "Azana, you are on deck...is Brother still sleeping?"
Tyler walked in afterward, pulling off a rather odd-looking glove. "Well, that was certainly a learning experience..."

Enra eyes widened a bit at Laura's hug before he left, but beyond that, nothing, as he left to join Enta in the kitchen for a few snacks.
In the kitchen, he didn't do much beyond watching Enta cook a few things. He watched, sampled, thanked Enta for asking him in, then promptly exited, taking a seat back at the bar. He hadn't tried to be rude, but he saw several things that nearly had him to the point of wailing. She cooked, too...
