"Oh! So, you have seen it too," Alex stated to acknowledge that he had already seen the photo, and to make sure that Sofia didn't get the wrong idea, he went on to say, "It looks totally fake to me. First of all, I know that you're not like that, and second, I know what Brandy's like too, and that's just the kind of stupid s**t that she'll try to pull. Didn't buy it for even a second, and if you don't believe me, ask Greg." Following Alex's lead, Greg had been wandering about to take possession of all copies of the photo that he could find and ripping them to pieces. At the moment he had an intact photo in his hands. "It's true," Greg assured Sofia, "As soon as Alex saw this, he got so mad that he said he was going to shove his crutch up Brandy's a**." Just then Nate appeared and cheerfully said, "Wait. Alex wants to shove his what up Brandy's what? I'm her boyfriend, and so shouldn't I be the one to do that kinky stuff?" Greg gestured towards Alex and replied, "There's his crutch. Have fun!" Making an educated guess, Nate then asked, "Alright, what has she done this time?" Instead of speaking, Greg handed the photo to Nate, who took it, laughed out loud, compared it to Sofia, and then had the decency to take a closer look. "This is so pathetic!" Nate finally declared, "Hey Sofia! Do me a favor and act like I just said something very rude and insulting." He then looked up to where Brandy was sitting with Team Bimbo and gave Brandy a loving smile and a wave. Naturally enough, Brandy waved back. Obviously Nate was trying to give Brandy the impression that he was on her side, and it appeared that he had succeeded. "She is such an idiot!" Nate said in a very quiet voice. "Since you already know that, why are you still with her?" Greg prodded. Nate gave him a condescending look and replied, "You already know exactly why I'm still with her. Well, practice is over for the day, and the big game is tomorrow, and so I should be on my way to rest up for it. Good day, gentlemen, Sofia." Nate walked up to the top of the bleachers, where Brandy greeted him with a big hug, and then they spent at least a minute sucking face. Eventually Nate whispered something into Brandy's ear, and as they began to walk away, Brandy smirked at Alex as if to say 'Guess what Nate's getting that you're not!' Greg then turned to Alex and said, "I know that Nate is your teammate and all that, but I have to say that they deserve each other. Seriously."

Sofia had slightly zoned out as she was now around three guys, needless to say she wasn't comfortable being around too many guys, even if it was just three and three that weren't even making fun of her and what not. Sure she hung out with Aeron a lot but she was under the impression that he was gay though there was that doubt that he truly was. Nonetheless she had given the expression Nate had asked for, for some reason whenever she was in an uncomfortable situation she naively gave into peer pressure much easier. Of course it didn't take long for Nate to leave and she had glanced back to see him and Brandy making out which she found to be disturbing. There was nothing but lust behind that kiss. She looked away since thinking about kissing would simply bring her back on last night and with Greg around there was no need to see her blushing and wondering what that was all about but she did wonder if Alex had told Greg what had happened since she told Debra after all.

Of course, Sofia was relieved that they did not believe the picture was real so that was a small weight off her chest. Since practice was over she figured it was now time to head home so she stood up and with her soft spoken voice said goodbye to Greg and waited for Alex to head to the car with her. As they did walk she said, "Th-there was no need for you to have gotten mad...it was just Brandy being...Brandy. And besides...I'm used to it already."

"Yes, I know that Brandy is like that, but it still bugs the heck out of me," Alex admitted. If he took the time to think about it, he might realize that a short time ago, back when he still thought of Sofia as an unattractive nerd, he wouldn't have been the least bit upset by the insults and taunts that Brandy sent Sofia's way. It might also occur to him that things had been changing ever since he had begun to like her. If he pursued that thought, he might notice a similarity between himself and his father. While his father could put up with and ignore any number of insults and jokes at his expense, he was very thin-skinned when it came to insults directed at Alex's mother, and if asked, Alex's father would say that such was so because he loved his wife so much. Was it possible that Alex was at the point where he was actually in love with Sofia? Of course that question had yet to cross Alex's conscious thoughts. Since he was talking about Brandy, he remarked to Sofia, "Personally, I'll be surprised if Nate and Brandy are still together at the end of the school year. Would you like to know why I'm thinking that?"

No doubt Sofia wanted to know why he felt so bothered by it since he hadn't felt too bothered by many of the things she had said to her towards the beginning of the year. She couldn't pursue the matter how ever since he asked her a question so she simply nodded and replied, "Um, sure, why do you think such a thing? Though I may have a clue as to why but I'd like to hear your take on it." It would take a couple minutes for them to ever reach the car since Alex was injured after all but she didn't mind taking a short stroll to the car, taking in fresh air was always a good thing. It would never really occur to her that he may or may not love her but if he did she would end up completely clueless and dumbfounded if he ever confessed such things to her.

"Let me explain why I think that by telling you what Nate thinks of Brandy," Alex said. He then repeated Nate's 'Brandy is a used car' metaphor, going to the extent of including his entire conversation with Nate and his recommendation that Nate should do everything he could to ensure that he didn't start up Brandy's 'assembly line'. "When it comes down to it, I really can't think of a better comparison," Alex concluded, "And that's why I say that Nate and Brandy won't be together at the end of the school year. Even if, by some miracle, they are still together, then their relationship will not make it past the first month of college. I'd bet money on that."

Sofia couldn't help but feel bad when she heard Alex's explanation and how Brandy was compared to a 'used car'. She just wasn't a cruel girl in general despite all the s**t people did to her. She walked with Alex and got in the car once she helped him in. As she drove off toward home she replied, "Brandy isn't the nicest girl in the world, but...using her isn't nice either. I dont' know...I just think that she has feelings too and everyone should be given some kind of respect." Silenced soon filled the car as she wasn't sure what his response would be to what she just said.

Perhaps it was a sign of his growing respect for Sofia, but after she had spoken, Alex felt a tiny twinge of guilt for what he had said, and he had to admit that she was right. He then backpedaled somewhat as he replied, "Well, that's what Nate thinks about her, and it's kind of hard to not agree. Maybe it would help if Brandy wasn't so... willing. You know what I mean? Anyway, for the record, I have never used Brandy like that. Sure, there have been lots of times when I could have, but I haven't. In fact, I've never used any girl like that. You might not believe this, but I have never scored with a girl. Ever. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either misinformed or lying through their teeth." Of course the irony of the moment was that Alex was married to Sofia, and he still hasn't scored with her.

"Well...that's good I suppose..." Sofia muttered as the care filled with silence again though if anything he gained more respect from her by saying that. There was no reason for him to lie about something like that. In fact it was hard for a guy to admit he never slept with a chick, especially a guy like Alex so it was hard NOT to believe him. Honestly she was rather glad to know he hadn't been fooling or using other girls since she certainly would add that to the reasons why she didn't want to go and sleep with him and what not. They finally arrived home and she helped him out and into the house. Bo quickly went to greet them, now used to Alex so he was happy to see him too along with Sofia. She locked the door and chuckled as she petted the dog before going into the kitchen to feed him. From there she washed her hands and started with dinner.

Alex was both pleased and relieved that Sofia believed him. Of course the things that he had said did have the benefit of being the truth. It occurred to him that there probably were very few things that would make a young woman like Sofia happier than knowing that her husband could honestly say that he had never been with another woman. That led him to think of another thing that he admired about her. Sofia knew the meaning of the word 'discretion'. If he had made that confession to Brandy, or any of a dozen other girls, then the entire school would have heard about it before the end of the next school day. Greg wouldn't have told anyone else, but he wouldn't allow Alex to live it down either. Alex could probably trust Sofia to never bring it up again. When they arrived at their apartment, Alex greeted Bo with the same amount of enthusiasm that the dog had, and petted Bo while talking to the dog like he and Bo were the best of friends. Besides, wasn't it always said that the dog was man's best friend? In keeping with his intention to be more useful around their home, Alex said to Sofia, "Let me know when it's almost time to eat, and I'll set the table."

"Alright," Sofia called out as Bo rushed into the kitchen to eat though he quickly went back to sit with Alex and relax by his feet like he usually did. It always amazed her that Bo had gotten so used to Alex so quickly but it was a good thing she guessed. She simply focused on making dinner which was homemade macaroni and cheese which was far better than the one you pour out of a box. She also figured she'd toast some bread with butter and she enjoyed making passion fruit drink but this time she mixed it with pomegranate which was also a favorite fruit of hers though mango was her all time. Afterwards she told him that dinner was almost ready.

As soon as Sofia had informed him that dinner was almost ready, he went and set the table like he had promised. As he did so, he took the time to smell the food that she was cooking. "That smells great! You could give cheesy lessons to Kraft!" he said enthusiastically, referring to Kraft brand macaroni and cheese 'Kraft is the cheesiest' ad campaigns.

That was funny, so funny that she actually couldn't help but really laugh out loud. Sofia didn't live up to her dorkiness other than the way she thought and dressed. It wasn't a loud snorting and dorky laugh like one would expect but a soft and rather adorable laugh. She had also covered her mouth since showing off her pearly white teeth was something she felt self-conscious about. Sofia put the food in the middle of a table and shoved a spoon into the cheesy macaroni so that he could serve himself as much as he wanted. Despite how cheesy it looked it was a rather healthy recipe, there was no sense in making him fat. She then poured him a class of the refreshment she had made and sat down. Just like every other day she ate with him quietly.

Alex didn't think that what he had said was all that funny, but he was glad that Sofia appreciated his attempt at humor. Furthermore, he found her musical laughter to be pleasing as well. Perhaps he should try to be funny more often, but not in an obvious way. After eating in silence for a while, he decided that he's rather start a conversation with Sofia, and so he remarked, "Tomorrow's going to be weird for me. Standing on the sideline the entire game instead of getting in to play." It was still bothering him that he wasn't able to get into the game, where he wanted to be. After a brief pause, he added, "With my luck, one of the running backs or receivers will be knocked out-of-bounds and into my lap at some point during the game."

It was something Sofia had been wondering for a while. She wanted to know how important football was to him, if he liked it because it satisfied him or because it made him popular and showed off his masculinity. And so such thoughts prompted her to ask, "How important is football to you anyway? Do you truly love it or is it just something to pass the time?" She continued to eat and sat there waiting for his reply truly curious. Sofia was always the curious one when it came to what other did or said, she always seek for an understanding which is why she was so into Psychology.

"Oh, I absolutely love football!" Alex firmly replied, "If I just wanted to pass the time, I'd do something that's much easier and less time consuming, not to mention less risky. There are few things that are more exciting than being in the game. Each play is partly a chess match and partly a thrill ride. First I have to figure out the best way to move the ball to the first down marker or the goal line while the defense tries to guess at what I'm going to do so that they can stop it. Once the ball is snapped, there's the rush of adrenaline that comes as I try to execute the play to the best of my ability. Sometimes I succeed in handing off the ball to the running back or in completing a pass to my receiver, and sometimes I end up running for my life. Add to that the tension that comes when I'm on the sideline watching the other school's offense as they try to score. The biggest thrill, though, comes from being successful. It's exciting to know that I called the right play to move the ball down the field, or that I threw the ball in just the right way for my receiver to catch it, not to mention how exciting it is to win the game. When our team wins a game, we feel encouraged to win the next game, and the game after that, and we also feel more confident that we can with every game, all of the way to the state championship." Alex paused a moment, and then added, "I'm probably coming across like winning is everything, but it's not really. It's more about doing your best during the game.No matter how good that I am, sooner or later I'll probably meet up with someone who is a little bit better. If I were to lose and I can honestly say that I played my best, then that's OK. Things like that are a part of life. But if I didn't play my best, then it really doesn't mean that much even if I do win."
