"Ha, thank you, my age would now be 33." MacPere held out the small box, winking at Angeles with a smile. "I got you a cake of blood especially, I'd hate for you to have missed out~"

Ale regained her breath eventually, still struck by the revelation Hikari had just made. "So, that was the price you had to pay for your power... and that's why you didn't search for me earlier." she felt bad, her friend had made a huge sacrifice for her, and she didn't know what to say to that. Personally, she didn't thought she was worth all that trouble, but the dragon knew better how much this glowing girl meant to him.
Ale came closer to his friend and looked him in the eyes. " You have been part of my life since I can remember. You taught me about the world, to take care of myself, to love Nature and its creation... you've done so much for me, and never demanded me anything. And I betrayed you and fled." she sighed. " Still you have forgiven me, and found the need to keep watching me, to assure I was safe." It was time to ask . "What is it that I have, that you want to preserve, no matter the cost?"

Angeles took the box and opened it up. It smelled delicious, "thank you MacPere," she said smiling, though the piece of paper was present in the back of her mind. The cake would serve two purposes. It would give her strength for the hunt she was going on. And it would make MacPere happy. She could stay for a little while for her friend. She put a hand on his shoulder and turned him around and ushered him downstairs, "how shall we celebrate?" she asked, setting the cake down on her table.

Gren smiled and began setting out plates, arranging them with dessert forks. Only a few, and he left stacks of the remaining next to the cake. "I'll have to do something special today..."

"Aw, come on... It's only a birthday~" MacPere filed back down the stairs and sat at one of the bar stools, spinning himself around to the main room.

"A birthday is an important celebration. it shows you that other people are glad you are here," said Angeles looking over at MacPere she smiled at him and her eyes sparkled slightly, "so let us celebrate the day you were brought into the world, because we are glad you are here."
Angeles walked over to the cabinet in the kitchen and took out a bottle of campaign. She looked it over for a moment before walking over to Gren and handing him the bottle, "here, you have the honors."

"Thank you..." Gren unwrapped the top, plunging in a corkscrew and after a few twists, removed the cork with a hollow thub from the bottle. "Got another hunt today, huh? You're looking a mite tense, Angeles."

"Indeed I do," said Angeles looking at Gren. Her eyes became intense for a moment before they softened again, "but I can stay for a while, for MacPere's birthday," she walked back into the kitchen and came out with two glasses for the champagne.

"Ah, Angeles, I thank you for your kindness, my heart is truly touched~" MacPere took a glass from Angeles with gratitude, raising it in a toast. "To celebrating 33... ugh... With the people I adore most?"

Angeles smiled and let Gren take the other glass. She then looked around to see what else she could do to to make it feel more festive in the inn.

Gren nodded his thanks and sipped his glass happily, letting the bubbles dance at his mouth. "I hope you have many more..." he said, tapping his glass to MacPere's in a casual toast.
In the back of his mind, Gren mused on how strangely Angeles was acting, and wondered if he himself was her bounty this time.
(As do I. The sinister claw of college papers is tugging at my conscience. See you all later tonight!)
