Turning in her father's embrace to view the creaking door, a delicate, saddened, expression found Laura's lips, eyes red and makeup stained and blotched from her tears.
"I'm fine, Montana... thanks for checking. I just wasn't expecting this to happen on New Year's, you know?"
She hesitated when the man behind her cleared his throat, brow risen in curiosity. "Ah... Montana, this is my dad; General Dimitri Trotsky. Daddy, this is Montana Blue. He is a dog-man-transmorphing... person? I'm sorry, I don't know the technical term..."

The General's brow wrinkled in disbelief to the transformation, eyes flicking to his daughter. All he received was a nod of such being normal. ... Indeed.
"It is good to meet you as well. Have you been protecting my little girl?"
Laura, from the side lacking an eye, mouthed an apology to Montana, smiling as she wiped her cheeks.
Looping an arm over his husband and giving a squeeze, MacPere smiled. "Good year indeed..." He pinched the cigarette for a drag of his own, popping it back between the lips. "It's so nice to be human!"
