Blinking a moment at the implications of the man in front of him, Derek eventually let out a noise that would serve as a chuckle. "You may have misunderstood the idea of work." he said. "But in any case, I suppose any room will do." Glancing about at the other people in the room the man was talking to, Derek eventually said "We can discuss this later if you wish. I suppose you have important conversations awaiting you."

"Chris can be very single-minded. It's very useful in battle. He stays focused on the goal until it's accomplished. It can, however, make for complicated relationships. When he heard about Angeles he was back and forth between rampant depression and deadly fury. None of us wanted to be around him for long. That's why he and Crystal are so...whatever right now. He was having a bad day and they got into an argument. Things were said and..." She trailed off, leaving the rest to Tyler's imagination.

Taking a hand and giving it a kiss in parting, MacPere strolled to the table, taking a seat with a wide beam.
"Apologies, where were we, Enra~?"

Gren had, by this point, taken a seat at the bar, having an eye carefully trained on his husband. He'd been working on forgiving, but a kiss to Stella's cheek still set his teeth on edge.
He looked to Derek, smiling crookedly. "Got a name, new guy?"

Looking to the person who addressed him, Derek nodded. "My name is Derek. May I know yours?" He turned to face the new talker, a bit of dust falling off of him.

He blinked at the dust, politely curious. "Been out digging? Smells fresh..."

For the first time since he arrived, Derek smiled. "That would be pleasant. I didn't want to damage the stairs." Adjusting a little, then leaning forward and lowering his voice, Derek responded "I am an Earthen elemental. I look what I suppose is human as an attempt to blend in. Not exactly fond of people staring at me."

Gren blinked at the news, looking impressed. "Well! I haven't seen a real Elemental before; this is pretty amazing...But, what with the vampires, sirens, cat people, demons, and other stuff, I feel pretty safe in saying that you're in good company."
He stood, stretching. "Want anything to eat or drink?"

Derek shook his head at the offer. "I don't suppose you stock rocks? If not, then no. I don't drink and I only eat rocks." He grinned a little at this. "What do I owe you for the room?"

Gren frowned slightly, thinking. "Might...we've even been stocked for zombies, why not? If we haven't I don't see why I couldn't get you some, if you tell me what kind."
While he spoke, he began rummaging through the cupboards in search. "Oh, don't fret too much about paying... We're a pretty easygoing sort here, generally people pay it off in helping with groceries, repairs, stories, singing...the barter system lives."

Nodding slightly, Derek glanced around. "In that case, I suppose I'll wait for a chance to repay you." After counting up the amount of people that were touching each other in some form or other, he turned back to Gren. "This may be an odd question, but are couples common in this region?"

"If you don't wteck up the place on purpose and don't fight indoors, I'll call it even." he chuckled, glancing back. "Yeah, there are a bunch of couples here, aren't there? The redhead Eliwood's mine, Tyler and Stacy, Azana and Sosol,Enta and Enra, Chris and Crystal...wow, and that's just in the room. You lookin' for someone, I guess this is the place."

With a deep chuckle, Derek shook his head rapidly for a rock. "Even if I did find another being here that would be as me, I have no place in this world nor my own." Seeing as only Gren seemed to be paying attention, Derek relaxed a bit. His humanoid form slowly started to drop away until he was back in elemental form.

Albee skipped down the room today, a young child with blue skin, white hair and the picture of contentment on his smile as he trotted in.
