Kain nodded. "Yes I'm fine...and as long as I keep this stupid mask on tight it won't happen again. I may have to tell you about it sometime." he said with a small smile that was covered by his mask. "Thank you for your concern." he said clamly now. His breath was back now and he was breathing evenly. "I only wish I had found this place sooner." he added then looked around for a moment as if looking for something to cover up the strangeness of the conversation. "Oh and my I say you have quiet a section here." he said then bent picking up the books he dropped putting them back where he found them on the selves.

A small, light laugh escaped her lips, as if she found something he had said amusing. "You will come to Mayfair Manor with us," she said very simply, smiling, and there was no question in her words, no invitation, only fact, "Generations upon generations of Mayfairs have spent their lives and fortunes composing the library there. Despite it's size, it's one of the finest you may ever see. My brother tends to refer to it as 'the book museum'." With that, and another faint laugh, she turned and started towards Felix, stopping only momentarily to beckon to Kain with a curl of her finger. "Shall we be off, Felix?" she asked, holding her hand out to him, "The hours of the night are far too precious to waste."

Felix watched as Antha looked over Kain. Seeing if he was alright. Felix has no clue what was going on with the man's body. But then again, trying to heal a body was never something he bothered to learn. Only how to cripple it or kill it. Hell, Kai could habe a broken arm, he'll leave it as is and let time heal it. Not really caring how it turns out.

"I'm ready to go." Felix said walking towards them a little. "That's if you're ready?" Felix was reffering to the attack by Sleet. He wasn't question her will to go, just her ability. This was the first time he's met her, so he didn't know just how quickly she recovers from this. From what he's gathered though, that attacks from Sleet has happed many time before.

The scent of blood made him freeze. Movement would make him lose his senses but if he was still then he could keep control. But Antha's voice in his head changed his plans quickly. He jumped up and darted across the room with every last bit of his vampiric speed. He grabbed Vikteren on his way and dragged him out before he shut the doors behind them.
He spent a moment clearing his mind of the haze of thirst before he dared to speak. "No," he said firmly. "Antha is mine. She's been mine since we were little children. Through every mess I get myself into she's been mine and I'm not going to let you change that." The anger began to build in his voice as he spoke. When he turned to look at Vikteren his eyes were glassy with that anger. "I won't let you steal the last thing I have left."
He stared at him for another minute silently as the anger kept building. "You had a sister, right?" It was one of those things that he didn't really know how he knew. He and Antha had the kind of mental connection that everything began to spill through it and he knew a lot of things that only she knew because of it. "Imagine if your sister and the girl you loved were one and the same. Imagine that you lost everything else int he whole damn world except for her. Would you ever let someone steal her from you?" His voice went quiet quickly. "Wouldn't you kill anyone who tried first?"

Vikteren went very, very still.
The words were on the tip of his tongue, snarling, barely reigned back. All the words that he needed to tell of that awful night when she had died, not even in his arms, but bloody and afraid and screaming, while he lived on, knowing that if he had died, she would have lived, knowing that they would have turned her instead. All the words to describe those unbearable endless weeks in darkness, in madness and grief and bloodlust, all those words at his command. And still he did not speak.

Finally the vampire let out the breath in his lungs in a sigh that was nearly a hiss, and said, "I wanted her to be happy. Above all else, I would not begrudge her now a day of happiness in all her life, whether I or any other person was the source of it. The bond between brother and sister is unbreakable and irreplaceable. No man could have taken my place in her heart. I know this."

Abruptly he looked directly at the other vampire, square in the eye.
"I am not trying to take your place, Nicolae. But Antha does not belong to you, nor I, nor any single person except herself. Understand that I am not your rival. Oh, and--"

He turned, almost ready to return to the others, when he paused, one hand resting lightly on the door handle.
"Never mention my sister again."

Antha just gave another little laugh, stepping back and twirling around once to show them that there remained not a single mark on her body from Sleet's attack. "It takes a lot more than Sleet can manage to bother me for long. So let's be off, then." With that, she started off across the room again, humming to herself as if she were quite suddenly in very good spirits. But as she neared the doors, she went very still and quiet, picking up on the voices on the other side. She heard only Vikteren's parting words, his steps towards the door, but she knew whatever they had spoken of could not be pleasant.
She opened the door before Vikteren could and for a moment just stood in the doorway, staring out at the two vampires with a very wary curiosity. "Is everything alright, ducky?" Almost as soon as she had said the last word, she winced as if it had given her some minor pain. The memory was still fresh in her mind of the first time she had called Vikteren by her favorite nickname, how he had told her to stop, and more than anything she did not want a repeat of that. It had hurt her to hear the sudden coldness of his voice. "We were just going to Mayfair Manor," she said, her voice gone a touch softer, quieter, "Are you coming along?"

Vikteren slid his hands back into his pockets and stepped to the side, to allow her to pass. "If you would permit me to accompany you." he said.

That term again.
Why Antha had chosen to address him as waterfowl, he would never understand.

Felix watched as Antha started to leave. She still had to get ready to leave though. She was still wearing the same cloths she woke up in. Between a new addition to the family and Sleet's attack, she really didn't have much of a chance though. Felix decided to wait here until she was ready. He propped himself down on a couch. One hand clasped itself over the other fist while his elbows rested on his knees. His eye lids slowly closed as Felix relinquished his mind to his astral magic.

The first time he did this here, was was trying to figure out where Antha was when she spoke to him in his mind. This time was different. Now he was trying to identify who every one in this manor really was. Anyone can put on an act. Felix has done many for the guild. Thought out thoroughly. Every single detail. To a childhood memory in his fake past, or a useless act he did he did in his idenities recent past. As if he was born and grew up that way. Everything. He didn't doubt anyone in here, he just wanted to see the real them.

However, all of their magic comes from the same place. And he felt Antha's magic when she demonstrated it. That would be the only factor that would disrupt this. Being as powerful as she was, her magic could warp the portrait or reflection of the individual’s astral body.

Her gaze rested on Vikteren for a moment, something like fatigue lingering within them. "I've always used it as an affectionate term. I used it for Nicolae when we were young. Honestly, mon cher, I don't see why it bothers you." A single small sigh escaped her lips as she closed her eyes and gave a vague shake of her head, letting the curls of her hair bounce frustratingly all around her face.
Then she was quiet, standing there very still in the doorway, while she felt Felix's energy rising around her, rushing over her skin, trying to touch on her mind. As an automatic reaction, the barriers of her mind clanged into place like metal, blocking everything out, and her own energy---her power---rushed his, colliding with it, forcing it back. But as a small courtesy, she left one little thread of his power connecting them, opening a small part of her mind that had collected the images of herself she had found in other minds and fashioned from them a new one she found appropriate. It was that part of her mind that invaded his vision so that when she turned to look over her shoulder at him, her knowing eyes glassy, her figure was crimson with spilled blood. It was a simple image, as far as these things go, but she had always thought it said the most about herself. Whether it was hers or another's, Antha was always covered in blood.
"I'll meet you at the car in a moment," she said with a sigh, giving a little dismissive wave of her hand and starting down the hall for her room, "Oncle Julien will pitch a dreadful fit if I don't change first." She stopped briefly to look back at them, giving Nicolae a sly, teasing grin. "He never did like it when I came home with your scent on me." And with that she vanished, laughing, into her room.

Nicolae gave her a grin in response that showed a strong family resemblance. He even managed a little laugh that wasn't fake.
But then she vanished and he looked at the other vampire and there was just anger and pain in that order. It was too strong to be overlooked and it promised he was thinking of ways to kill his sister's new lover.
"You're a fool if you think this'll last," he hissed. "She's been in 'love' before. She'll throw you away soon. And I can only hope it gives you a broken heart that kills you. Painfully."
He glared at him for a tense minute while he thought of hitting him or picking a fight then just followed Antha into her room. He shut the door behind it. "Are you really going to kill him?" he asked her while he plopped down on her bed. He was being dramatic with his sulky mood. "You're the Designee of the Legacy and he's not a Mayfair. You know your only choices are to toss him aside or kill him."

The moment she was hidden away in her room, Antha merely leaned her back against the wall and stood there, eyes closed, enjoying the moderate peace. After the arrival of Felix and Kain, Sleet's attack, another of which was sure to follow, and the prospect of spending the day at Mayfair Manor, she needed those few quiet moments to herself. It was days like these that made Antha wish she were anyone but herself.
She went to the closet before Nicolae entered, picking through it to find something that suited her mood. "I'm not so sure you're right about that," she replied, "After all, he is a vampire. If I don't marry him or bear a child by him, neither of which is an option, the curse shouldn't take him from me." Finally finding what she wanted, gray, she pulled the dress from her closet and returned Nicolae's shirt to him, throwing it at him.
"I do wish you'd be nicer to him," she said softly when she was dressed, picking her coat up from the back of the chair by the window and then standing there, staring at her brother. "He doesn't change anything. You will always be my brother, and I will always love you, but I stopped waiting for you a very long time ago, Nicolae. You are too tiresome, and I gave up the day you fled from us." She sighed, sitting down beside him on the edge of the bed and kissing his cheek. "Besides, you are a Mayfair and I am your Designee of the Legacy. With that, no one can compare."
With that, she quitted the room, shrugging into her coat as she passed down the hall and went downstairs, through the kitchen, and to her car.

Felix was prepared when Antha's magic resisted and push his own back. But was more skilled in his astral magic than his pryo magic. So he was able to hold onto his control over it. But he was right. As he tried to look at everyone's astral image, Antha's magic refused to let him and the face that her own magic retaliated against his made it harder to see. All he saw was blurry images, or it was to transparent to tell.

Amist of all that, one image came through clear. Antha. But Felix could tell it was an image that she let him see. One she choose for him to view. So Felix couldn't tell fully if that was who she really was or if it was what she wanted him to believe she was. But after seeing various images from the two Mayfairs here. It could be a reflection of who she is. A reflect is just like a mirror. Shows what it sees. So if the image is just a reflection of the owner, that person is acting who they really are. But if the image is different, what Felix refers to as a portraite, then the owner is acting how that person wants other to preceive him. The image is who they are and their material body is the canvas to paint and decorate to ones desire.

Felix tried everyone else again but was still a futile attempt due to Antha. It was that time that he felt her drawing closer then start to move away. She must be ready. Gathering himself back, he opened his eyes and stood up. After proceeding out the door he tried to follow Antha's astral presence. After walking down a few halls, he quickly cuaght up with her as she was heading to her car. He approached the car as well. He has heard her talk to one of the vampires in the hall and Felix knew it wasn't Nicolae. And Antha obviously showed an interest in him. So out of respect, but he didn't know for who, Felix waited by a back sear door.

Kain started for the door. "I'll be waiting outside in my car. I'll follow you guys." he said then went down the stairs to the front door and leaned on his car out side waiting for the others. It was still cold out as the sun had gone down only shortly before. He was resting on the door of his Pourse. It was pitch black and drove nice and fast. He had made sure that it had some nearly bullet proof shell and bullet proof windows. The car was so strong that it was almost impossible to harm. However it took a lot of tries to get it right.

He did take comfort in the fact she pointed out. She was his Designee of the Legacy and his little sister. Vikteren could never take that from him at least. But he still felt the anger and sadness rooted in his heart. Antha was still being taken away from him.
When she was gone and the warmth of her kiss was still fresh on his cheek he burrowed into her sheets and laid there in a nest of her scent. Some part of his mind was telling him that the day these sheets carried Vikteren's scent was the day he would kill himself. Another was arguing that he was thinking too much about it and that she'd had lovers before and they'd gotten thrown own soon enough.
He consoled himself with that thought. At least it was enough that he crawled out of bed and fixed the sheets and dragged himself back to the cemetery. Back to Khayman and the cold stone crypt they called home.

He followed the trail Antha left, the wafting air currents that carried that strange perfume of her scent, once she left her bedroom, and caught up to her at the car. Vikteren glanced up, catching the boy Mayfair's eye as he exited the house. "Do you want me in your ridiculous modern death-trap, or should I be polite and let your cousin experience it for himself?" He asked Antha, in a low whisper that couldn't quite mask the smile in his voice. As Antha knew, the vampire could very well keep up with them on foot. Really, it was just an excuse to lean close to her, to have her ear for the briefest of instants. Because, even though the vampire would have given the thought a wide berth, being close to her made him--what was the word?
Happy.

Antha paused at the door of the car, watching Vikteren over the hood, and flashed him one of those too rare true smiles, which she had noticed recently were becoming a touch more common. "I believe Felix has been kind enough to reserve the front row seat to the mayhem for you," she replied as she opened the door, her eyes flickering to her cousin, giving him a look that was half gratitude and half pure amusement, "Though still I think, Felix, that it would be cruel not to warn you to close your eyes and hold on tight."
With that, she slid into the seat behind the wheel and started the car with a low roar, pausing to busy herself with turning down the sudden blast of classical music that was quite permanent in her car before she leaned over to gaze out of the passenger side window at Vikteren, the familiar wicked little grin to her lips. "Unless, of course, you would rather spare yourself. Which do you think more dangerous, the woods in which Sleet is roaming, or my driving skills?"
