She gave him a flat look. "I understand that, but I'm not gonna pretend to like her. It's his decision, but I'm a part of this too. I won't have her as a mother-in-law!"

"That's fair. I would never want to stifle your emotions, Charlotte." Sosol poured himself a glass of water, remaining calm. After all, it didn't really involve him; all he could offer was another perspective.
"Speaking of strange pairings...hey, Remy. How are you and Max?" Tyler asked, beginning to show more signs of life and alertness.

"A little less dangerous for me, considering I'm supposed to be six feet under right now by official accounts," Tyler chuckled, almost glad to not have to hide anymore. "Still, not something I throw around."
"I booked a short weekend someplace warm and relaxing...thought I'd take full advantage of this calm streak." He smiled, though part of him knew better than to say that; something always seemed to happen when they left.

Charlotte pointed at the blanketed lump on the couch. "That. I'm happy for Howard, but I don't like Xei. It's that old 'dude, this is a horrible idea' thing friends can get when friends get into relationships. I don't like her, don't see anything to respect about her...how am I supposed to feel?"
