"Exactly. Stacy still has pull in the department. When she gets back from her getaway, I'll have her see what she can do. In the meantime," he sighed hesitantly, "I think it's time we got a look at you-know-who's you-know-what. Can I count on your help?" He wasn't looking forward to this, but in order to know why the cult wanted Violet so badly, they had to know what was in her head.

Sosol grimaced, not really wanting to be dragged into this... "Chris...there's gotta be another way to do this..."
Violet blinked, looking around at everyone. What was wrong...?

Chris leaned in closer to Azana and Sosol so only they could hear him. "Max and I did some digging yesterday, Az. Judging from the evidence, I have reason to believe that Violet may have been implanted with alien intelligence. I think that might be the reason the cult wants her so badly."
He glanced over at Violet, calmly sketching Angeles, and sighed. "I don't like this anymore than Sol does, but I need to get a look at Violet's mind and find out if I'm right. The only way I know to do that is by scanning. I'm not talking about anything invasive, just a simple EEG scan. Attach a few electrodes to her forehead and see what's going on in there."

"I have nothing but compassion, Gren. I'm thinking of Violet's safety. If we can find out why these people want her, we can find out a way to stop them. We can give Violet a chance to live a normal life, maybe return to her family someday."

Kaeru's eyes snapped up suddenly. He pointed to Remy. "You. Could you come here for a second?" something under his coat rustled, as if irritated.

"What about Dante?" asked Angeles, almost instantly from her seat to the circle of conversation using her vampiric speed. Her arms were folded calmly, "the devil hunter? He deals mostly in demons correct? And from what I hear, he'll do anything for a little money."
The rest of the conversation concerned her slightly. With all the talk of invading someone's mind when so long ago it was wrong to drink blood for the sake of retrieving information.

"...alien intelligence." Azana said, understandably skeptical. "I know Merlin said she's something special...but this is pushing it."
"Chris, a few days ago she flinched when someone put a hand on her shoulder. What are you looking for, a full-on panic attack?" He asked, still in disbelief he was pushing this issue so heavily. "I know whatever's up there is important, but is it really worth all this?"
Violet turned a page, unsure of what to draw next...

"Think of how scary an EEG is to someone who's been tortured in every way for three years." he said quietly, expression serious. "Also. We have psychics."
"Me?" said Remy, looking up. "Ayup. 'Scuse me, Violet." He got up, strolling to Kaeru. "What can I do for ya?"
The dryer dinged, the door opening. A tiny ball of indigo fluff floated out.
(Think a soot sprite, only Gren's hair-colored.)

"Believe me, guys, I'm not crazy about it either. And I know it's a bit of a stretch, but just look at the evidence." He grabbed his notes from the floor and handed them to Azana. They had everything he had gathered. His interviews with Violet's brother, Stacy's scans of her drawings and every scrap of data Max had secured in her search. "If there's another explanation that I'm overlooking, please tell me. You guys are the experts in this area, after all."
Turning to Gren, he added "I don't know if a psychic reading will show us what we need to know and that would be more invasive than I'd like, anyway. I really think this is the most gentle way to do this, but I'm open to alternatives."
