Gren nodded with an understanding hum. "Ah...unification and dominion. I see...and, these symbols and chants invoke her?" he asked, pointing to the smeared sigil on the floor.

Chris kicked back in his chair and pulled out the newspaper, checking the latest happenings in the world.
Nate, having a sixth sense for when someone was reading an informative publication, emerged from the kitchen with a cup of coffee for Chris. He set it down on the table, along with a bear claw, and returned to the kitchen.

Violet went back to her drawing, but was obviously a bit on edge around Chris now. Call it habit, but usually people didn't take no for an answer around her...
Max slept, snoring a little due to her odd position.

The sound of a harmonica drifted out from the kitchen. Chris heard it and immediately dropped the paper. "Nate, if I find out you're the one who stole my harmonica, I'll come in there and rip off your beak!"
The sound stopped and Chris resumed reading his paper. A moment later, the music was heard once again. Chris calmly placed the paper on the table and walked into the kitchen. A loud crash was heard, followed by an indignant squawk, and Chris returned a moment later with his harmonica and Nate's beak.

"My Lady desires what lies within the girl...I know nothing of its nature," the man answered, looking to Gren. "For Kasdeya to bestow such a gift on her speaks to her importance...anyone who dared kill her would face wrath unimaginable."
Violet shrunk back at Chris's threat, and it only grew worse with the crash and the squawk. At the sight of the beak, she let out a fearful squeak, hiding behind the couch upon which Max was sleeping. He was so violent...a hand rose to her collar with a shudder. He wouldn't do anything like that to her, would he?
Max jolted awake at the sound of the crash, drowsily looking about. "Mind keepin' it down, man?" She asked, rubbing at her eyes.

Nate stormed out into the main room, his beak still on his face, and held out his wing to Chris. Chris handed back the fake beak and said "Maybe next time, you'll remember this before you steal my harmonica. And why do you have a fake beak, anyway. You're a bird. You have a real beak. You don't need a fake one."
Nate squawked something and returned to the kitchen, unwilling to dignify Chris' question with a response.

"Soon," he answered. "The Priestess is of the mind that Violet would expedite the process, though I'm not certain she knows, either, what that girl is to Our Lady."
Violet peeked around the corner. Fake beak...? "..." Of course he needed one, with threats like that...she was almost jealous...having a few fake things could have saved her a lot of pain...
"...all that over a harmonica?'' Max asked, still in a half-asleep daze. "Dude, ya gotta chill..."

Violet sat against the back of the couch, continuing to color in her rendition of Max.
"Maybe...but ya get all scary 'n stuff...just ask Vi back here..."

Gren shrugged casually. He'd already found the center of operations via Jean-Luke. "Thought it was worth asking. Now, this is the really tricky one...I'd rather not keep you down here. In fact, I'd love to get you out of my basement, since the whole torture scene isn't my thing. However, I can't just let you. You may not mean Violet harm, but she doesn't want to go. Kind of an impasse. Thoughts?"
Remy walked downstairs, leanin over the couch and pecking Max's cheek. He hadn't slept, but being a vamipre made that less of an issue.

"Hm, that is quite the problem, isn't it? I suppose the easiest solution is for me to simply walk out on my own...at least as well as I can, given my knee. Of course, there are those who would delight in taking me elsewhere, I'm certain...I've heard rumors of certain residents here. I doubt there is much I can bargain with you for Violet's return, though I am willing to try...and I cannot promise there won't be other attempts; I hold little sway against Kasdeya's will."
"Hey, Remy," she greeted, rolling to look up at him. "Sorry I passed out here...MEGA energy crash..."
Violet finished Max's picture, holding it up over the couch for Remy to see. Not that she didn't trust Chris--well, she didn't-- but it was comfortably small back here.
