"I can get her," Stella said with a nod, exiting the kitchen and heading for the stairs. After a bit of a walk and a wrong turn or two, she arrived at the room, giving it a light knock. "Violet...? You're needed downstairs."
Violet opened the door a crack and nodded, closing it again for a minute before emerging again now wearing her beret and holding the old book in her arms. "...I'm sorry...I know this is supposed to be your read."
"No problem...I'm sure I'll have some time to skim it," she assured her, patting her on the back. "I didn't know you were interested...then again, I guess it does help to understand what he's trying to do."
"I...hardly understand anything in here. The illustrations were...really complex, and fun to look at." Violet said it sheepishly, walking down the stairs to the main room.

Marouse stood, dressed casually, several clay pots of things open. He gestured to a chair he'd placed in a circle of dried flower petals. "Here...have a seat. It will be like a spa treatment!"

Violet stopped, looking back to Stella nervously. She had no idea what was going on, or what it'd do...
"Go on...he's trying to help," Stella nudged her with a grin. Yeah, if she were in this position, she'd be nervous, too...
Violet nodded, walking forward into the circle and taking a seat. "..."

"What I am going to do..." he explained, stepping in and closing the circle behind himself, "is removes its bind to your aura. I will trick it into thinking your presence has changed, it's task complete. It will not remove the curse, but it will prevent it from following you and paining you, and with luck, allow others to finish the job without being attacked."
He smiled to Violet. "All I need you to do, miss, is relax. No troubled thoughts. Try for me?"

Violet listened to him, blinking and touching it lightly. It wouldn't follow her anymore...she nodded, albeit somewhat hesitantly, and did her best to relax.
Stella sat down with the book, glancing over it to the pair. This would be interesting, to say the least.
((Art store didn't have what I was looking for. I'm in a sandwich shop looking up other places to try.))

Violet shivered a little, fighting back against that overwhelming urge to get far away from this. He was trying to help...she had to remember that, relax...

Finishing that, he lit the end of the sage-lizard bundle, smoldering it for the smoke, waving it about Violet, continuing the chant in a mellow, relaxing pace. His eyes were closed, the resonating undertone in his voice a reedy thrum to the rhythm.

Violet could feel herself getting short of breath, flashbacks of some of the Kin's rituals striving to fill her with panic. It wasn't them, she repeated to herself over and over. He was helping, she had to stay calm, just until he was done.

He pressed a thumb to her forehead and crown, clapped his hands once, ending his chant. "It is done...you may open your eyes." he said gently.

Violet was trembling, honestly relieved to hear that it was over. He hadn't done anything harmful, no, but it stirred up a lot of memories. The thing was, she didn't feel any different...looking to him, she reached around to the back of her neck and gave the collar a tug.
Nothing. Her eyes widened, and she tried it again. Save for the pressure on the front of her throat, she felt...fine... She gasped, throwing her arms around Marouse.

She felt the increase in tightness, but nothing more, and a giggle bubbled out of her. "Thank you!" She said in absolute delight. Sure, they couldn't remove it yet, but at least it no longer repelled the attempts. After a moment of joy, she finally remembered a detail and looked up to him.
"...you still need me to draw." She said. "What would you like?"
Stella grinned, watching the two. The guy had some serious talent, and that method must have come from a completely different model. Still, she had her work cut out for her. How to remove it now that it was unbound...
