Violet nodded, running off to her seat and flipping to an empty page. She stared down at it for a little while, humming in thought before starting in the middle...

"I'm impressed..." Stella said quietly over the borrowed text. "I don't get much exposure to different systems, but it's always amazing when I do. It's also good to see the barter system is alive and well."

Azana walked down at last of her own accord, stretching and feeling much better after a good meal and some real sleep. Someone else looked better, too...but she was still wearing the collar. "What's with her?"

"Your friend here unbound it from her aura. You won't get jolted again like last time," Stella explained, getting back to her reading...

"Ah...that's great news. Can't wait to put all this behind us..."

"Thanks...didn't mean to worry everyone," she said sheepishly. "I guess I pushed my limits a bit too far there."

"An invocation like that? It goes without saying...what were you thinking?" Stella asked, marking her place in the book and shutting it to give this her full attention. She had had two full days to think about this.

"When Remy changed, I felt like I didn't have a choice but to lay my cards on the table...it worked, didn't it?" Azana shot back. "Kasdeya's gone, and I'm fine."

"And what if you weren't? You took a huge risk in doing that, and you act like it was nothing!"

"It's my job, Stella...and unless you feel like firing me, I'm going to keep doing what I have to to fulfill it."

"Your job includes coming back to your friends and family alive, Az." She sighed, leaving it at that and getting back to her book.

Azana was silent for a minute before shaking her head and walking to the kitchen. She was still starving...

"I have some ideas, yes...it doesn't mean I can't wish she'd stop pulling stunts," Stella answered him. "Still, your perspective's always welcome."

Violet continued to scribble on the page, and by now it was quite clear that the finished product wouldn't be a person...

"...taking the risk to leave nothing to chance...?" Stella asked, glancing to the kitchen door.

In the kitchen, Azana warmed up some mac and cheese, leaning against the counter. It seemed almost hypocritical of her cousin...sure, a lot of their relationship had been patched up in the past year, but to hear her actually express concern after years of the opposite just didn't really feel genuine yet. The fact that she was now the chairwoman didn't help matters, since that put the lovely question in mind as to how much of her concern was for the well-being of a relative rather than the survival of a top agent.

"And if it makes for a good story later on, so much the better," Stella chuckled, knowing well of her cousin's tendency to fill her friends in on the details. "Sometimes, she makes me wonder, though..."

Jeff walked back downstairs from his nap. He wondered if they had found any new information for his books seemed almost useless.

Jeff sighed. Here was one more person who believed him new. He was NOT new.
"Good evening Stranger..." he answered looking at the man with a mixture of surprise, unease and ...disgust? What a strange character!

Jeff stared at the lizard and squinted his eyes.
"I think...I'll pass. But thanks." he answered with a raised eyebrow.
