As soon as Sofia had gone into the kitchen, Alex enthusiastically patted Bo on the head as he said in a low voice. "Good dog! Good dog! That's what being man's best friend is all about! Shall I get you a dog treat for being such a good dog? Huh? Shall I get you a treat?" Alex was feeling the urge to reassure Sofia that nothing had been going on between him and Helen, but he didn't want to appear to be too desperate to do that. Most likely she will be coming back to the living room soon, and then Alex could explain.

Sofia walked into the living room as Alex predicted and sat next to Bo, patting his back gently. She put down her bottle of water and sat back to relax a bit. She had wiped off her sweat though her hair by her face was a bit damp and as usual she had no glasses because it was annoying to run with glasses on. She glanced over at Alex and knew that he was going to explain what had happened. Judging by the way Bo was reacting Helen had been the one who acted first. It seemed that Helen had gotten ontop of Alex when Bo walked in so the dog had seen it all go down. It was as if Bo knew what was going on and put an end to it before the girl could put her nasty lips on his other owner. Alex, to him was now as important to him as Sofia was. He had barked happily at Alex when he was offering some treats.

Knowing that Sofia was waiting for his explanation now, Alex stated, "There's really not much for me to say. Helen showed up after you left, and she said that she wanted to catch up on things, although I'm sure that she had something else in mind. She also brought those Rice Krispies Treats, obviously to butter me up." He gestured towards the plate of snacks as he said that last part. Helen's departure had been so precipitous that she hadn't had the time to grab the plate before she had left, which Alex considered to be a good thing. He was tempted to eat one now, but it would be rude while he was talking to Sofia. He went on to say, "At least she left the treats. Go ahead and help yourself. Anyway, she asked me about how you and I got married, and I told her. As you can expect, she now insists that I should get a divorce and that I don't want a wife like you, which just goes to show that she really doesn't know what she's talking about. Sitting in my lap was her idea, and I've certainly haven't done anything to encourage it in any way. That was about the time when you and Bo got home, and so you already know the rest."

Helen wasn't a nice person, Sofia already knew this even way before she arrived not to mention the thing she had told her after the game yesterday.During her jog Sofia had been thinking a lot of things over and how she always let herself be pushed around by people and how she was too kind to do anything about it or stand up for herself. She did stand up to Brandy once and so she knew that whatever anger had allowed her to do that she had to let it out again whenever someone was trying to tease her or bully her. She couldn't sit here and be shy and a big wuss. It was either change or give up on everything she strive for and wanted. She sat there and listened to him explain what had happened and she gave a nod to show that she understood and believed him. It was nice to hear that he opposed the thought of getting a divorce but even she knew that she had to compromise with him to make a healthy married relationship. So far he's been showing change and so she had to as well at some point.

The next thing that would happen would take both Sofia and Alex by surprise. Without warning she had leaned over Bo who still sat there content and looked at Alex, her eyes locked to his and her face already turning a light shade of red. Nonetheless she had gone that far and simply moved a couple more inches so that the space between their lips was gone. And so she sat there with her lips locked to his. Perhaps it was just a sudden impulse, nonetheless she did it.

For a number of reasons, the last thing that Alex expected Sofia to do at the moment was to kiss him. Nevertheless, she did so just the same. While it was a surprise, it was a pleasant surprise, and so it didn't take Alex long to recover from the brief moment of shock and act on impulse. In this case, impulse demanded that he should kiss her back and gently wrap his arms around her. Alex was perfectly willing to kiss her for as long as she'll let him.

Sofia hardly understood what was happening this very moment but she couldn't help but notice how nice his lips felt, both warm and soft. Those very thoughts made her face grow hotter and the shade of red becoming darker. Her heart was pounding quickly but she had yet to really break the kiss, and in fact had become a rather deep and passionate kiss the more they sat there with their lips interlocked. The only reason the kiss was broken was because Bo was being smothered by the two. Bo hated being smothered so much and so he had gotten up and forced Sofia away from Alex and he jumped off, making a noise with his nostrils as if he had gone 'hmph' in irritation. He trotted off into the kitchen to drink some water and left Sofia and Alex to deal with the awkward situation.

Indeed it was awkward as Sofia sat there blushing and unsure what to do or say. She was too embarrassed to even get up and leave nor could she look over at Alex.

Alex was relieved that Sofia hadn't bolted for the kitchen immediate after they had kisses, like she had the other night, but it was clear that she still wasn't used to the situation. It occurred to him that perhaps it might help her if he got her to start talking about things. That could be a challenge for him, but it would be worth it if he could get her to express herself. "Look at me, Sophia," Alex said firmly but soothingly, "I understand that you prefer to keep things to yourself, but sometimes it's important to let the person that your with know about how you feel about that person. If you like someone, you shouldn't hesitate to tell that someone just that. I promise you that you can tell me anything that you desire without worrying about me laughing at you or doing something to embarrass you in front of other people." He realized that asking her to trust him like that was asking a lot. If she chose to decline, then he would have to find a way to prove to her that she can trust him.

Indeed it would be far too difficult for her to straight up trust him, considering her past. She looked at him when he asked her to do so, her face still red though it began to lighten up. She didnt' say anything for a moment as she tried to piece together what happened and what he said. Maybe now was a good time to let out some of those buried feelings though she wouldn't let them out all in one day.

"I..I understand what you're saying but when it comes to trust it's just always been a hard thing for me to give. For now I'm pretty sure you understand my feelings for you..." Sofia glanced down blushing lightly as she was still sitting pretty close to him since he had wrapped his arms around her the only spot left was the space where Bo once sat smothered by the two. He looked up at him, her hazel colored eyes staring straight into his.

That wasn't quite what Alex was hoping for, but it probably was as much as he could realistically expect from Sofia at the moment. He did get the feeling that there was a lot more to her trust issues than not trusting him. Perhaps in time she'll open up to him enough for him to figure out what those issues were. In response to what she had said, he stated, "I do understand, and you should know that I feel the same about you." Alex considered that to be the perfect thing to say because it was true and he wasn't committing himself to stronger emotions or weaker emotions than what she felt. In other words, it was a safe answer that allowed Sofia to interpret it however she wished.

Sofia nodded with a soft smile growing on her face, "Thank you for understanding...I...I should go shower now.." She chuckled lightly as she stood up and left the living room and went off into the bedroom. There she fully let her emotions out as her face was completely red, considering how much she enjoyed the kiss. Sofia shut the door and stood in the shower for a while till she was nice and clean. When she finished she got dressed, putting on some sweat pants and a tank top but even in that she still looked good. After putting her hair in a pony tail she walked out and joined Alex on the couch, there was nothing to really do and she liked his company, it was always better than being alone.

"So...what are you watching?" She glanced at him and flashed him a smile, this time she had her glasses on.

"Ohio State at Michigan," Alex replied, "Michigan is ahead 24 to 21, and the game's almost over, but there's still time for Ohio State to at least get within field goal range. A touchdown will win the game for Ohio State, while a field goal will send the game into overtime. After this games, there's... ah..." He paused long enough to use the TV remote to check the schedule for that channel, and the continued, "Alabama at LSU. That's going to be another grudge match."

"It's always exciting to watch a game go into overtime, it's anyone's game and you really get to see the teams ready to do what they can to get that touch down. Wonder who'll win...I bet you anything that Michigan will probably win," She looked over at him and chuckled, wondering if he either agreed or joined in on the bet but for Ohio winning. This reminded her of all the times she spent watching football with the butlers and some maids when her parents weren't around and she watched them bet all the time and when she was old enough she would bet as well though usually the beat she bet for won, rarely did the team lose.

Bo had returned but sat by their feet, not wanting to risk being smothered again like before. He simply laid there chewing on a bone, not sure what the two were watching only that it caused humans to react in a funny way.

It was right about then that Debra arrived at Sofia and Alex's apartment and rang the doorbell. She was hoping that she hadn't gotten there too early on a Saturday. Debra had come to visit partly because that was a good excuse to go someplace, but mostly because she was dying to tell Sofia all about Cynthia's visit that morning. The possibility that Brandy was about to lose an underling probably would be good news for Sofia.

Before Alex could respond to her the doorbell rang and so she got up to answer it. It was either his parents, Helen...or Debra and she hoped it was Debra though she didn't mind Alex's parents, they seemed like really nice people. She opened the door and there she was, dressed in black as usual. "Oh Debra, come in, what brings you here?" She smiled and shut the door once her friend was inside and as usual she asked her if she was hungry or thirsty as they made their way to the living room. She would tell Debra about Helen coming here later and how Bo nearly bit her head off. It was a funny sight and she probably would have loved to see it.

"Hi Alex! Hi Bo!" Debra called out as she came in the apartment, and then she said to Sofia, "Two reasons. First, I just had to get out of the house and this is one of my favorite places to go, and second, I just have to tell you about what happened this morning. You'll never guess who came to visit me." After a brief pause, she continued, "Since you won't guess, I'll just tell you. Cynthia came to see me this morning. Can you believe that? She wanted to complain about those chocolate chip cookies that I gave to Brandy. Obviously Brandy shared them with the rest of Team Bimbo." For Sofia's benefit, Debra repeated her entire conversation with Cynthia, including Debra's recommendation to watch the video for 'Sweet Dreams' and her suggestion that Cynthia should get to know Sofia better. "With a little bit of luck, that will get at least one girl off of your back," Debra concluded.
