"It is your inexperience which makes him feel he has the right to shelter you," Kristen said. "I have been there myself...it will change as they realize your capabilities."
((Kitty adoption time~!))

"Still...talking down to kids just because they're kids is a bad idea anyhow...inexperience doesn't justify disrespect...but, if you say it gets better..."
'I guess she did...hey, was that coincidence? I thought that too! Hey, Kristen! Are you reading my mind? That's really neat!'
He smiled earnestly. It was an exciting thought.
(Enjoooy!)

((Well, bad news is they couldn't do the adoption with only one person on shift. Good news? I'm going back Thursday, with Boy, to finally adopt. Also, gonna volunteer, too.))
"I can assure you it gets better...there is not a single person in this Inn who talks down to me now." Kristen beamed before getting the message.
Besides, you are quite perceptive. I am glad it meets with such a favorable reaction...Brother has told me of others who were less than thrilled.

"Well! I hope that's sooner than later...just because I haven't seen stuff like this doesn't mean I'm dim." he hummed.
He chuckled excitedly at the message. 'Really? Wow, this is so neat! I can't complain...I don't think I have much to hide...well, except for this one thing, but that's only because it's a little embarrassing.'
"So, you're a paychic? Can you fly, like in X-Men?"

"No, sorry," Kristen replied, "but I know Brother can get a decent hover...he does not show it off much anymore, given his other choices of transportation. Apparently, it is quite draining. However..." She stood and took a few steps back, the faint green glow barely visible through her sleeves.
"Fire." She made it small, but it still lifted from her fingertips and danced in mid-air.

"Whoaaaaa." he breathed, staring. "That's amazing, Miss Kristen! How did you do that?"
(Derp. Hooray for volunteering!)

"Well, the manipulation is mental...the ignition, however, is via a foreign magic that is the only remainder of a strange group of visitors." Kristen pulled up her sleeve to allow him a glimpse. "I have difficulty starting fires on my own...despite my seeming affinity."

Adam hummed, looking at the glow. "It doesn't seem like it'd be that comfortable..." he said, rubbing his forearm sympathetically. "But don't feel bad about not being able to start the fires...I can't do anything with the stuff."
He frowned mildly. "This place really is unusual...this sort of thing; you don't see it much anywhere else...it's amazing, but a little unbelievable...""

"I hardly feel it most of the time," Kristen shrugged, lowering her sleeve again. "I would have to agree...this place appears to attract the extraordinary. Most of the time, it is a blessing beyond compare, but disaster often follows. There are few, if any, guests who have not been chased through those doors..."

"Were you?" he asked gently. "Most everyone's been really nice...being chased must mean that some real jerks are out there..."

"I was not," Kristen answered. "I was sent here, mostly due to my wish to spend more time with Brother. He was, though. This world is a place of balance...there is great good, there is great evil, and there are all of us in between. Many of us choose to stay because of such a concentration of nice people..."
Tyler listened in as he entered the main room, strolling through to warm up some dinner. Talking about being chased into the Inn...this was the last place he wanted to be that year or so ago. Now, it was one of the few places that was safe for him.
Funny how that turns out.

Adam hummed, sipping his somewhat cold tea. "Well, that's the trouble...we've got all the nice people in here, and the rest of the world must miss them, hence the chase." he chuckled. "Or, well, there's that whole existential thing of good and bad being relative, but I like my way better."
He waved with a smile to Tyler. "Hello!"

"I like that concept...even if it may not practice well here," Kristen said. "After all, we have all done things we regret."
"Evening," Tyler greeted, sitting down with his dinner. "It sounds like some serious conversation here..."

"I suppose, but bad deeds don't make a bad person..." he hummed before turning to Tyler, gesturing to a chair. "Semi-serious, I think. Care to join us?"

Enra awoke in his bed, feeling an immediate gurgle in his gut. He wasn't sick, he wasn't hungry... that was the sound of guilt. He'd dreamt of Adam all that night (not that way), his conscience refusing to let him be at peace.
"...Fixing."
He sat up with a groan, making his way out of bed and hobbling downstairs, looking around with a hope.
"Adam? You here...?"
