Ueki hummed as he eyed something shiny.
"Wish I could buy something... But I'm rather broke right now. In fact... I don't even know where to get money, which is why I'm here, mostly."
Laimu grinned as he looked over a quill and inkwell set.
"An entire store full of things like these... Must be quite a sight to see."

Orrin beamed about as much as he could given his mellow state, producing a set of scales from a pocket. "This should solve that dilemma...for all three of you."
Kristen continued to puruse the tabletops, glancing over to Orrin's scales. "Oh, wow...I did not realize you still had those."
"They are not for sale...these help me determine one's account balance, though I recall...one of those lab techs built me a different version..."

Although not in fact buying anything, Laimu was also staring with rapt attention to whatever the scales would do.

Orrin explained as he dug around in his pocket, mildly distracted from one by the other. He finally pulled out a strange piece of technology, one that would probably seem vaguely familiar.
"Or, if you prefer to be less ceremonial about it...you can use the palm reader."

Gren shook his head and pointed at the scales. "I prefer the traditional one, if you don't mind...what do I do?"
Meanwhile, Remy sat on his bed, sketching a commission. He glanced up to the blond mane sitting in front of his computer screen, cooing at the gameplay. "Master?"

Orrin grinned. "I'm glad you have a mind for tradition...all I ask is to be calm. Many tend to panic when evoking their Karmic balance." He approached Gren, resting a hand on his chest. After a moment, a faint glow emerged, and Orrin slowly drew his hand away, now holding a heart-shaped crystal as smooth as glass. Clouds of various colors floated in it, manifestations of past deeds.
"We weigh this...and we return it," he said gently, resting it on one plate of the scales and watching it sink to the table. From another pocket came a sizable sack of Karma tokens, and he began his work of equalizing the two sides.
Kristen watched with a bright smile...she was curious how high Orrin would be stacking...

Gren managed to keep calm, albeit blushing mildly at the touch and swallowing in mild relief as it was removed. He watched, intrigued. "Wow..."

Ueki watched with wide eyes, the whole process mesmerizing to him.
Laimu was almost jealous now of the effect Orrin had on Kristen, his supposed girlfriend so enamoured. He knew that everyone had their childhood memory, but his protective guy genes still combatted with the notion.

Kristen glanced back at Laimu, blinking in mild confusion. "...are you nervous...?"
Orrin steadily placed token after token, watching the plates waver. "You are...a complex man, Gren...but I believe I'm almost done." He stopped as the two hovered on equal footing, picking up the crystal heart and letting the tokens spill to the side. "Your hospitality and kindness make you rich, my friend...an initial balance of 60,000." The heart faded with a glow again, resting back where it belonged.
"Who would like to go next...?"
